Likes: It was very clean and comfortable, the small kitchen meant we could cater for ourselves without having to go out in the rain. Had the weather been good we might have gone to one of the local pubs.

The Stables is a small family owned Bed & Breakfast run by Debby and Martin Pezzack within the village of Ticknall, Derbyshire. Martin and Debby took over the premises in August 2006 along with the village store. The Main Accommodation Consists of a spacious, tastefully decorated two bedroom self contained apartment with private kitchen and bathroom facilities. It’s size and amenities make it the ideal base for a small family holiday or business people working in the vicinity. Privacy and freedom are assured as the apartment is separate from the main house. Off street parking is also available. Tichnall is a small but picturesque village close to Melbourne and Calke Abbey. Built between the years 1701/03, Calke Abbey is a fine baroque mansion that has undergone very little restoration and is surrounded by wonderful parkland. The village contains a lock-up that was still used in the early part of the twentieth century, and the remains of the Church of St Thomas a Beckett on the site of the Church of St George, which was erected to cover the growth in population in the area in 1831.
