We stayed one night as we attended friends' wedding at Calke Abbey, just up the road. The Stables was well equipped, heaters and radiators were more than adequate to maintain a comfortable temperature. Lovely comfy bed, clean bathroom, amazing full English breakfast delivered to the table in the morning! Thank you. Read less

"Amazing accomodation with excellent hosts and value for money"
Had a brilliant time at the Stables; bed and breakfast with a difference as it was like staying in a self contained unit with a kitchen area but breakfast was brought in. The bed was really comfortable, there was everything you needed and in the kitchen there was as much tea, coffee and sugar as you wanted. We had a very warm welcome on arrival and the hosts provided us with a bottle of wine as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary which we thought was a lovely gesture. Read less

The Main Accommodation Consists of a spacious, tastefully decorated two bedroom self contained apartment with private kitchen and bathroom facilities. Tichnall is a small but picturesque village close to Melbourne and Calke Abbey. Built between the years 1701/03, Calke Abbey is a fine baroque mansion that has undergone very little restoration and is surrounded by wonderful parkland. The village contains a lock-up that was still used in the early part of the twentieth century, and the remains of the Church of St Thomas a Beckett on the site of the Church of St George, which was erected to cover the growth in population in the area in 1831.
