Northumbrian House is a listed Georgian house within Berwick’s Elizabethan ramparts - an ideal location for exploring the rich wealth of Berwick’s heritage. It runs using green principles and offers holidays which minimise environmental impact.

The Rooms are inspired by their generous Georgian plan and decorated to match, each room has Louis XV solid walnut beds comfortably wrapped in Egyptian cotton covered duvets. The double and twin/family rooms have en-suites, with a generous walk-in shower and locally produced hand-made soap. High quality modern facilities including wireless broadband provide for comfort and entertainment in this classical setting.

Breakfast is home cooked breakfast using locally produced organic ingredients are served in our beautiful Georgian dining room, complemented with single estate grown coffee, fair-trade tea, home grown fruit, home made marmalade from organic Seville oranges, the doctor’s porridge and more.
Breakfasts at Northumbrian House have been given a Gold award by the North Northumbrian Local Food scheme for the use and promotion of the superb quality locally produced food. Vegetarians are welcome and we are happy to cater for other dietary requirements.

The Gardens are one of the largest in town, providing herbs, fruit, flowers and vegetables. Play croquet or table tennis, or just contemplate quietly in this historic walled paradise.

Explore the geology and wildlife in the astonishing beauty of Northumberland’s coastline and its wide-open landscape with Northumbrian Earth or meet local artists and craftsmen from the area and watch pot making in the garden studio with Northumbrian Fire.

What our visitors say: “an absolute pleasure to stay in such a fantastic place where we were comfortable and well looked after” “The garden was also fantastic particularly the table tennis. Ian was very friendly and helpful” “we leave wishing we could stay longer – Northumbrian House has stolen our hearts – totally enchanting"
