The Old Lockup Information

Description

The Old Lockup is situated in the picturesque Derbyshire Dales market town of Wirksworth, on the edge of the Peak District National Park. It is an ideal location for exploring the unique landscape of the Derbyshire countryside, walking or cycling the High Peak Trail, or enjoying the many watersports on offer at nearby Carsington Reservoir. The Old Lockup has been sensitively refurbished to combine its historic original features with modern convenience. Its four spacious en-suite bedrooms are individually styled and furnished, complete with everything needed for a comfortable stay. An extensive breakfast menu offers something for everyone, special dietary requirements are catered for and evening meals are available allowing guests to do nothing but soak up the atmosphere. Eating out is easy too with a range of restaurants and pubs just a few minutes walk away. The Old Lockup also provides guests with a free private car park, complementary WiFi access, guest lounge with open fire. There are bookshelves in most of the rooms with a selection of good reads. An invigorating double airbath soothes aching muscles after a day walking the Dales.

Accessibility

Our premises are not ideal for people with mobility issues however we will do everything we can to make your stay comfortable. It is possible to park outside the main entrance where there are a couple of steps up to the front door. The most suitable room would be the Magistrates room which has a walk in ensuite shower room, the shower is compact but the only step into it is into the tray itself. All our rooms are on the first floor, the stairs have a very sturdy rail but one side only. There are 16 steps to the first floor including two 90 degree turns. Images are available if required. There are four steps down to the dining room.
