The George Information

Description

The George is at it's heart is a Traditional Coaching Inn. Standing proud in the centre of the Harbour, it has been serving drinks, food and giving guests somewhere to sleep since the turn of the 19th century. We also have a variety of extremely comfortable en-suite guest rooms. Experience our luxurious signature solid oak "Four Poster" room. We also have superior doubles, 3 person family rooms and the "Jack & Jill" family room sleeping 4 people in 2 rooms with a shared en-suite. We can accommodate guests and families on holiday or visiting on business from a 1 night stop-over to weekend breaks and longer term stays. West Bay Harbour is known as the Golden Gateway to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. It has been a popular holiday destination for years as well as a being a busy fishing and leisure harbour. The recent ITV drama BROADCHURCH brought the Bay to the attention of millions of TV viewers around the world and showcased the beautiful scenery around the Bay. The market town of Bridport lies 1.5m to the north and holds bi-weekly markets as well as a monthly farmers market. Each of the rooms have been tastefully decorated yet all retain an individual charm and have great views across West Bay Harbour or the surrounding countryside. Room rates include a choice of full English cooked breakfast as well as many continental choices and fresh warmed pastries. The George offers competitive local rates for both peak and off-peak seasons. We value all of our guests and we want you all to experience a comfortable, quality stay with us. One which ultimately leaves you with a feeling of value for money and satisfaction that leads you to want to come and stay with us again very soon. We hope to see you at The George in the near future and look forwards to welcoming you to our home.

You are guaranteed a warm welcome at the George. Running friendly and welcoming pubs has been Karen's life and she is proud to be able to call herself the Landlady of such a great and well respected business as The George. It is a true family business - partner Ian and daughter Emily both do (mostly) as told by Karen! The only one who doesn't listen to her is 7 year old retriever Lenny who you may get a sight of later in the evening after food service is finished. We also have a fantastic team of staff and friends who work alongside us to make your welcome and your stay very special. It is genuinely a very happy place to work and visit and our guests keep coming back for that special welcome they all get. The bustling Harbour gets year round visitors attracted to the Gateway to the Jurassic Coast - England's first natural UNESCO World Heritage sight. The Bay was also the setting for the fantastically popular ITV series BROADCHURCH and people are still flocking to see the sights from the 3 series such as DI Hardy's (David Tennants) iconic blue holiday home which can be viewed from several of the bedrooms.
