The White Stag Information

Description

The White Stag Inn is set in the small Highland village of Strathyre & surrounded by the QE2 Forest, forming part of the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park. Located on the A84 'Road to the Isles' just 1hour & 40mins to Oban for the ferries to the Hebrides, 'The Inn' is an excellent stopping off point for a comfortable bed and a relaxed meal. If you are walking the Rob Roy Way, The White Stag Inn is the perfect halfway point between Killin & Aberfoyle, so you might well meet other walkers who may be warming themselves by the fire in the colder months, or relaxing in the beer garden in summer. The beer terrace at the rear of the property affords panoramic views of Ben Sheann on the other side of the valley; Ben Ledi to the south and Meall an t-Seallaidh to the north. 'The Inn' is regularly featured in CAMRA's Good Beer Guide and the new owners' plan to soon establish a Microbrewery in the annexe that adjoins the bar. For non-beer drinkers we have a diverse range of Malt Whiskies for those that fancy a 'wee dram', a tempting selection of Scottish Gins, plus an array of other beverages, including non-alcoholic options. Our freshly refurbished comfortable rooms offer a relaxing resting place and we are happy to accept dogs by advanced arrangement. All rooms offer numerous power points for your convenience along with multiple USB charging points for those 'essential' devices. Given sufficient notice we can arrange anything for you in your room by prior request from a lovely bottle of bubbly or flowers and chocolates. The new owners have given each room its own Scottish identity; Wallace, Stewart, Fraser, Macgregor and McKay, notable by history or Outlander! From 'The Inn' there’s easy access to the hills with numerous spectacular walks for all abilities, plus traffic-free cycle-ways (the Sustrans National Cycle Route 7 is on our doorstep) with golf, fishing and water sports all within easy reach to ensure that the enthusiasts amongst you are not disappointed.

THE NEW OWNERS! Audrey, of Clan McKay, born in Hamilton, Scotland. Having moved down south as a young adult she spent over 25 years working in Child Protection, so if the kids are looking for somebody who understands them then she is the smiley face they'll be drawn to! Before moving back to Scotland she was the owner of a boutique wine outlet, which boosted her knowledge of wines, so if that's your tipple, then ask her advice. Irene, Audrey's sister, has spent most of the last 30 years as Head Steward on some of the worlds biggest privately owned super-yachts. Irene has an eye for detail & likes keeping things shipshape. Due to her experience in working in exotic locations around the world she's constantly in demand, so you may not find her in Strathyre all the time! Mark, Audrey's husband, is the family Sassenach. His numerous jobs have helped develop his DIY skills, meaning if something needs fixing, he can usually manage it. In his last role he started a brewery in 2017 & worked as Head Brewer; producing over 250 beers, from traditional ales & boozy stouts to modern craft lagers. . With Mark's knowledge we hope therefore to establish our very own microbrewery soon.
