The Hand at Llanarmon Information

Description

The Hand at Llanarmon is an ancient hostelry with all the attributes you’d expect – bags of character, a cosy, relaxing ambience and a warm welcome from your hosts, Jonathan and Jackie Greatorex. As soon as you arrive you feel the weight of the world dissolving as the surroundings work their magic. All the classic ingredients are here – old beams, roaring fireplaces, a casual mix-and-match of pine and oak furniture, real ale and good food. The latter is seriously good. Thanks to the talents of Head Chef Grant Mulholland and his team, The Hand is renowned for award-winning food; an inventive marriage of country fare and sophisticated metropolitan cuisine. Country lovers just love the location. You can walk in the Berwyns for hours with only the sheep for company and the ever-helpful Hand can arrange many country pursuits, including horse riding, fishing and shooting. You may be away from it all, but you’ll also be in the swing of things; this gem of a country inn is so much a part of village life that locals and visitors mix in unaffected harmony. Kick back, curl up, or crash out – The Hand at Llanarmon bedrooms and suites are spacious, beautifully designed, equipped with high specification technology, satellite television, mineral water, tea, coffee and biscuits. The bathrooms come fully-loaded with fluffy towels, robes and lots of products and toiletries, with free-standing bathtubs available in some of the rooms. Renowned as a luxury inn we pride ourselves on our outstanding facilities and superior service. We welcome dogs in our bar area and have three 'dog friendly rooms' for a small fee of £10 per night. Please call us to check availability prior to making an online booking so that we can allocate you to one of these rooms.

Accessibility

We have 4 ground floor rooms, two of which are accessible via a ramp and are wheelchair accessible: the other two have two steps up to them. The public rooms are all on one level, with just a 4-inch step into the dining room. There are no steps at the entrances to the inn.

Directions

  • Road from A5 trunk road (12.0 miles)
Exit the A5 at Chirk, and follow signs for the B4500, signposted Ceiriog Valley. Llanarmon D.C. is 11 miles up the valley, and The Hand is in front of you as you enter the village. Please note that there is a Hand Hotel in Chirk, and another in Llangollen, but neither is associated with us. Note also that there are two other Llanarmons in North Wales - the D.C. is important!
  • Train from Chirk (11.0 miles)
Chirk is the nearest railway station, on a direct line to London. We can arrange for a taxi to meet you at the station, or buses terminate at the hotel entrance. Please phone to discuss arrangements.
