Excellent service. Rooms quirky. Some minor repairs required in our room, sink cracked, toilet seat cracked. No table lamp by the bed. However the feral of the hotel staff friendliness and quality of the food makes up for these minor irritations. Read more

An ideal location close to the place of business I was visiting. The room was characterful and well appointed. The room (#12) was facing the front of the property but I was not affected by traffic noise. Dinner in the pub area was excellent. Friendly helpful staff - I was shown to my room, and was offered a free upgrade due to a cancellation. Read more

On arrival we were met by a very nice young man with a beard(cant remember his name)who booked us in and showed us to our rooms. The first room was not what we excpected and we were initailly disappointed because it did not look like the room advertised. But within minutes without us saying a word the beardy guy came and offered us another room which was fantastic. Read more
We are contractors who work all over the UK so it's lovely to stay somewhere warm and friendly can can only give one point against our stay and that would be that it's a shame we stayed on business and not pleasure, would def stay again Read more

Ever since her early days my wife had wanted to visit West Wycombe and see the H3ll Fire Caves and Mausoleum. Staying in WW means staying at the George and Dragon and we were not disappointed. On arrival we had a brief wait for the room but we were early and it meant we could try a lovely local beer from the Rebellion Brewery. The four poster room and just what I expected for a 300 year old building. The staff couldn't do enough to help us during the stay and the food was excellent. Read more

We stayed for one night whist in the area for business.
room 7 is very dated. old bathroom, stains on walls and ceiling and very cold! half the lights in the corridor didnt work which was quite dangerous as old building and floor uneven.

the food was lovely. Read more
Arriving late in the evening the check in was quick. The room was large and waa easy to settle into. Visited the bar with a good selection of ales and food and had a very enjoyable dinber that arrived quickly. Slept very well and the shower facilities were good and my morning full English was delicious. All throughout my stay all staff I interacted with were pleasent and worked hard. Read more

I've stayed at the George & Dragon several times but feel that now, since the increase in price, it's no longer giving value for money. The staff are friendly and very helpful but the rooms are poor. The only mirror in my room was in the bathroom and the TV screen was the smallest I've ever seen! The food is good but the vegetables with my evening meal consisted of a couple of broccoli florets and three carrot sticks. At breakfast it was either full cooked OR orange juice & cereal - not both. This was a lovely historic coaching inn. The room was very clean and unique: it had exposed beams, a four poster bed, antique furniture, and a very modern bathroom. We would have slept soundly here if it hadn't been for fear the ghost of a scorned lover who apparently haunts the room we stayed in! Read more

Stayed for two nights on bed and breakfast basis and ate in the hotel on first night. The room was clean and comfortable but a little noisy as over the bar. The bed was very comfortable which was a nice bonus. The only draw back was that the shower could only be accessed into the room itself and so afforded no privacy what so ever, as the loo and sink where next to it with proper door so private could nt understand the shower layout! This is a lovely old coaching house full of character Read more
We discovered this place as an alternative to soulless chains, when visiting for business in the area some years ago. The venue we visit has since moved in closer to London (Stockley Park), but we still feel it's worth the detour back to West Wycombe! Read more
While we enjoyed our stay, mainly becasue the people were friendly and we were there for a family wedding at West Wycombe Hall, the stay was spoilt becasue our room (1) was directly over the kitchen and the smell of fat from the cooking was horendous. it pervaded the room and we couldnt do anything about it i.e. had to close the window even though it was very hot, but still the smell persisted. it clung to our clothes and hair and was quite embarrasing. I would never stay in that room again Read more

Easy to book, spacious car park. Slightly odd reception process, as had to wait for bar staff to be available. Shown to the room personally - nice touch. Room was clean, quaint, but basic. Small windows and no fan so remained warm at night after a hot day. Tiny TV. No soap provided. DInner in the bar area was good and service was quick. Breakfast was very good - the cooked breakfast was generous in quantity. Read more

We arrived rather tired, however the gentleman that showed us our room was extremely friendly and helpful in every respect.

When I say the room was excellent, I don't mean in a Holiday Inn sort of way. Being about 500 years old, the floors and beams were incredibly warped, the bathroom door was beginning to come apart at the seams, and it was a super cool place to be able to stay! Benjamin Franklin might have stayed in our very room, and definitely would have eaten at the pub. The food was especially delicious and fresh with huge portions, and very tasty ale too. Read more

I was in a four-poster room - lovely room, really comfortable bed - and it's a lovely experience. Warm and friendly welcome from the owners and bar staff who recognised me from previous visits. The menu has improved since January and always well cooked & presented with fresh ingredients. The beer is good and the locals friendly. Lovely garden - feel like you're in a park. Read more

We are so sorry that we let you down with our room
We are under refurbishment, having been here only 7 months. Unfortunately we cannot commence work with the bedrooms until we receive permission from the National Trust which has this week been approved,
Having said that there is no excuse for any of our rooms being dirty. We take a pride in our business and to our service. I have informed Housekeeping and will continue to monitor. Thank you for taking the time to write this review.

Room was cold as only top inch of heater was working. On retrieving cover from wardrobe to put on bed found it was stained. Moved to another room! Much better. Good breakfast but had to lay my own table with crockery/cutlery as others hadn't been cleared despite very friendly, helpful staff.
Had already booked another nights accommodation at the hotel. Was told I would be looked after better! Evening meal in pub was excellent.

As we had heard the pub had been recently taken over, my partner and myself thought we would book a stay after a get together with friends one evening. Although the pub in itself hasn't been updated fully yet there has been great changes already. The bedrooms have been smartened up a little since i last stayed and the full english breakfast was 5*. My friends have had lunch and dinner there and all have said it was delicious also. Read more

Good morning! Thank you so much for your wonderful review of the George and Dragon, West Wycombe. We're all so glad you enjoyed your stay in this unique building. Since taking over we have upgraded many aspects of the experience and have some great ideas planned for the future. We hope you will come back and visit us again soon. Kind Regards, Matt Penfold (General Manager) and the George and Dragon Team.
Through a cobbled archway on West Wycombe High Street, you come to the entrance of a coaching inn built in the early 18th Century. When you walk in, it feels quite natural that people have been doing this for almost three centuries. Generations of traders, travellers, lovers and visitors have left traces of their presence on the building and its atmosphere, not least of whom is Sukie, the beautiful social climber whose ghost is said to haunt the building. The attentive service you receive from our staff, however, leaves you in no doubt that you are in the present now. Whether you hope for quick service for a business lunch or a more relaxed pace for dinner with friends, you will not be disappointed. On a fine day, you can sit in our large garden where there is a children's play area. You can stay at the George and Dragon, and will find your bedroom both comfortable and interesting. Two of the rooms have four-poster beds and all of them have the uneven floorboards and quirky angles that come with age. One room straddles the archway into the inn's courtyard and another gives a view over the old roofs and chimneys of West Wycombe. Recent concessions to modern living include direct dial telephones, en-suite bathrooms, tea and coffee making facilities and sky TV. We have three full-time chefs who create an intriguing menu which is English at heart including local game, English cheeses, traditional puddings and lamb from the local estate. Some menu items and daily specials will represent the chefs' selection from the rest of the world and may include dishes from the Mediterranean and the Far East. As you would expect from an establishment where good dining is such a high priority, we also have a choice of well kept real ales, an excellent wine list and a fine range of malt whiskies.
