Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of The Old Stables. I am very surprised at your review after our long conversation in the morning. The croissants are baked fresh in the morning and I could easily have heated your croissant had you so requested. I feel your review does not accurately reflect certain aspects of The Old Stables especially regarding cleanliness. Kind regards. Julie

Location is set well away from public roads, so externally very quiet, although conveniently close to Milton Keynes and M1.
Dislikes?
Problems with internal acoustics.Activity in adjacent rooms can be heard. In particular, very noisy adjacent room flushing of w/c cistern, and creaking floorboards!
My breakfast croissantwas cold!

It was lovely and remote, the breakfast was great. Nice having cuppa outside watching the horse and rabbits.

The potholes. Our room was quite small, not much room to move around with suitcases in. The wc is squeezed between the shower and the wall. Bathroom is ground floor so don't forget to lower the blind

An Eden of Tranquility

I have recently started a new job, and because of the long commute daily, I decided to look for accommodation durning the weeks I am working. I found the old stables B&B and booked a 4-5 night stay. Everything was wonderful from being greeted by Julie when I arrived to the moment I checked out. Room was emaculate and spacious, breakfast provided was a mixed variety for guests and Julie was wonderful answering any and all questions I had. Read more

Only issue, minor though, was there was no hot water coming from the hot water tab or shower. Everything else far outstrips that.

Country retreat

We booked this B&B only a few days before staying there. Our car, a Honda CRV coped admirably with the lane and the views from the property were lovely.
Our room was furnished tastefully and lacked nothing. The room was compact, but we did make a late booking and I'm sure if we had booked earlier we could have had one of the larger rooms.
Breakfasts was superb, in a spacious dining room and again lacked nothing. It was a great start to the day. Thank you Julie. Read more

Excellent all round

The bottom line of any accommodation is that you get a comfortable bed, plenty of hot water and a decent breakfast. And this you get at The Old Stables - then much more.

This is as much like a hotel as you are likely to get whilst remaining a B&B. Julie is a very friendly host and has equipped her accommodation to a standard you might expect only in a good quality hotel than in a lowly B&B. For a lowly B&B this is not. Read more
