Overnight stop en-route to the Lake District

Arrived in the evening rather tired and hungry but the owners were able to recommend a local pub just down the road serving good food.Slept ok but the mattress could have been less lumpy! Very friendly and welcoming overnight stay

Stayed for one night with young child and family pet. Arrived after 9 in dark and was unsure if arriving at the right place (b&b in the right place but no sign for Balterley Green Farm). Recieved a warm and friendly welcome, accommodation was nice and clean and owner also gave us milk for our 2 year old to save us heading out to the shop. Very suitable for our dog too and breakfast was served after 7 at a time that suited us. Lovely stay. Read more

What a Gem

apart from one wrong turn and driving in circles for 10 minutes to find the farm, this was a wonderful find. a working farm and two wonderful young people helping to run the place. the room was away from the main house in a converted barn. the same amenities as I would expect in a 3 start hotel. Nice, quiet location

The farm is out of the way, so obviously, no city traffic to bother with, a lovely field of horses and sheep across the way...and of course chickens and a rooster. The rooster woke me up, but not my husband, so I suppose that depends on how you sleep (pigeons usually wake me up), there were also people next door making noise going back and forth in the hallway outside our door, but again, depends on how you sleep. The owners were very nice and so were their dogs and cat that roam around. Read more

Friendly B&B with good privacy

I had 2 nights and had checked in advance that there was wifi access; this was good. I could have done with a chair in the bedroom (and a table in my case but I would not necessarily expect that, it's just that I had a lot of laptop work to do and I like to use a mouse, but I managed). Such friendly people I could not bring myself to say that the mushrooms were cremated on the first morning so I didn't have a cooked breakfast the next day. Read more

Lovely and Friendly Accommodation

We recently stayed at Balterley after attending a wedding locally. The accommodation inside the main house is a little tired but clean and tidy. The owners parents were on duty for the weekend of our stay and were extremely friendly and treated us like long lost friends which was not at all over-friendly or uncomfortable. In fact, they drove us back to the wedding venue and then, amazingly, picked us up again at 1am when our taxi didn't turn up!! Thanks Val and John for a lovely stay Read more

Good location near motorway and lovely spot

The locaton mght be considered too rural by some but for us it was a lovely spot to spend a nght on the way up to the Lake District. It was not far from the motorway but absolutely peaceful. Fabulous, but not easy to find

We were due to visit the Keele University Open Day and were struggling to find a family room for 4 people, presumably because of the proximity to Alton Towers. We found Balterley Green Farm by looking a little further afield, and emailed the owner. However, we got no reply, so assumed there were no vacancies. As the day approached we'd still had no luck finding somewhere so we looked at this B&B again and found we could book online, which we did. £75 for a family room. Read more

Excellent large twin room (in an old outbuilding)with comfortable beds and good ensuite facilities, although bedroom floor was varnished boards with no carpet.
