nostalgic

Our first visit here was 30 years ago and this visit brought back many happy memories. The hotel has adapted to the changes of its clientele but the quality remains the same. Its usp has to be the views and its proximity to Newquay which are second to none in the area. Read more

Nice room shame about the bathroom and shower

Excellent view from bedroom window, the room itself was good but the bathroom was much too small, after having a bath or shower had to dry in the main bedroom. The bathroom suite was dated and the shower was abysmal. The dining room was light and airy with good views but the food was mediocre. Was the tomato soup on Sunday 14th September out of a tin? The breakfast was average and the evening meal menu left a lot to be desired. Only ate there once and that was enough. The staff were friendly Read more

Best hotel in Newquay.

This is by far the best hotel in Newquay from what we saw. It has the best location with excellent sea/beach views and has easy access to the beach. Our room was great with a sea view and the staff were very nice and friendly. It is also close to the town centre and shops. Great value for money and can not fault it. Comfortable but hotel needs decorating

I had a very pleasant stay, although my first impression was not great as the lady on reception was fairly unfriendly. My room was comfortable, although was very tatty in decor. The bathroom smelt musty and the carpet all over the floor and up the side of the bath felt unhygienic. The peeling wallpaper and rusty shelving felt poor quality. The bed was extremely comfortable though, and the breakfast was superb, added to which, the staff on breakfast duty were wonderfully friendly and welcoming. Read more

Friendly hotel in a fabulous location

We checked in early at 12o'clock, (not normally availible til 2pm). Reception staff were friendly and helpful. We were shown to our room which I can only describe as a small apartment - we'd booked a double room, and ended up in a family room. It was huge, decor was slightly dated but clean and tidy nonetheless. Bathroom was clean with fresh towels and toiletries availible. Slept really well overnight. And enjoyed a lovely breakfast in the morning. Read more

Hi, Thanks for the Review, we are pleased you had a nice stay with us. You were absolutely right it was very cold, we only have central heating on the ground floor and electric heating in bedrooms which is usually more than enough. We don't open in the winter but nobody told Spring it was Spring! Coldest Easter for 100 years apparently according to records! Sorry we couldn't get the place warm enough. Hope we see you again in warmer times.

It was a very central location and a short walk to the town where there was plenty going on. Close to the beach and the hotle had an indoor pool which was great for the kids.

Could very well be the best hotel in Newquay today.

My wife and I enjoyed a pleasant, restfull one week stay at Trebarwith Hotel taking in the superb evening meal most nights. We are considering a two week holiday there next year. We really enjoyed it. The food was exceptionally good, my best regards to the chef. Please keep the evening meal optional. Read more

I liked the idea of the bar closing at 11pm, eliminating late night noisy boozing. This hotel is for active families and genteel elderly people alike. But not for Stags and Hen parties.

What a superb holiday.

We were made to feel at home straight away. The room was very comfortable and situated so that we could see the cliffs, sea and beach which my wife enjoyed immensely. The staff were very friendly and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Carol, the receptionist has a very dry sense of humour and kept us laughing. The hotel was reasonable perhaps a little tired looking. Interesting review - thankyou. I am sorry the hotel is in Newquay and hope you do not feel we have been misleading in any way we will review how we describe the location of our hotel so that people are aware of our location as ' An oasis in the heart of Newquay'. Thank you for your review and for staying with us, I am pleased you had a relaxing stay.
Sorry about the pillows if you found them a bit hard, we do offer foam filled pliiows as an alternative
upon request usually for guests with feather alergies. Yes it has been a bit stuffy recently, totally agree,
again we have fans available for rooms if they get too hot around about this time of year.

The view, the friendly staff and the pleasant lounge and bar area. My mother had a sea view room and a large opening window which was lovely.
Dislikes?
The pillows were solid (like sandbags) but there were no alternatives. We had a town view room which only had small windows and it was a bit stuffy!

Comfortable hotel in beautiful location

Once inside, hotel comfortable. We thought there could be more signage (to swimming pool and cinema (and what was being shown) as had to ask. Overall we enjoyed our stay and thought effort was made to ensure our comfort. This we appreciated. Lovely clifftop walks which could be mentioned on hotel noticeboard. Actually a peaceful hotel very near a noisy Newquay! Pity the town is so run down and so geared to the young - its the more mature who would bring in the money! Read more

Comfortable room with stunning view, same applies to dining room. Room cleaning staff excellent and friendly. Considerate management. Efficient dining room staff, mostly polite and friendly.
Dislikes?
Occasional serving staff (newly employed?) sullen. Some of the main courses at dinner institutionlike. No fault of hotel but approach road with several derelict houses does not make a good impression.

Once we arrived we knew, apart from meeting friends one night, we would not have to drive much on this break as buses easy and cheap and the beach and coast path on the doorstep. Breakfast well cooked

We continue to update each year 2010 so far includes new flat screen tv's, new bathrooms and wifi upgrades which we thought was working fine ( you get 6 hours not 2) until this review, thank you we will check it out. The water pressure can vary from time to time but generally works well. We prefer to cook and serve breakfast fresh and hot rather than a buffet just our opinion. We have no lift becasue there is nowhere to put one without a major rebuild.

Beautiful location, awful rooms.

The hotel is located in a very beautiful location overlooking the sea. The room we had was very grubby and old fashioned. There were stains on the carpet and walls and what appeared to be blood on the bathroom curtain. The carpets were dirty brown and the sink, bath and toilet were mismatched and very old fashioned. the beds were lumpy and uncomfortable. The hotel is in desperate need of updating. Read more

Description

Almost hidden, you will find the hotel centrally located overlooking Newquay Bay and Great Western Beach where we are totally free from passing traffic and noise - but just a minute's easy walk to Newquay's many shops and amenities. Right on the sea edge, the Trebarwith Hotel's position in the Cornish Riviera is unrivalled, offering spacious sea views from our Restaurant, Bar and Lounges with private walkway from our terraced gardens onto the Great Western Beach. Just a few miles from Newquay we have the famous Eden Project, Falmouth National Maritime Museum, many display gardens and National Trust properties. Farm and amusement parks such as Crealy Cornwall and Dairy Land are a short distance from the hotel and easily accessible by car or bus. Newquay offers a wide choice of beaches to explore and the calmer shores of south coast of Cornwall are just a short drive away. For a day out shopping Truro city centre has arrange of high street shops and independent traders with weekly farmers market offering the best of fresh Cornish produce and regular arts and crafts exhibitions in its many galleries.

We have an access ramp into the hotel. Unfortunately we do not have a lift to the upper floors and as the hotel is architecturally challenged due to its age (1890) we have small staircases throughout the building.
