hello joan, we thank you for your comments and are glad you enjoyed your stay, in booking a self catering establishment it is the norm for the departing guest to do a little housekeeping, if you were to book bed & breakfast then that is a different thing, we hope however this did not detract fron your stay, sleep quality on beds are a very personal thing and what may suit one person may not suit another, but i note your comment and will check on the mattress although they are only a year

Conniston was just perfect even though it rained for two days whilst there.
Dislikes?
Providing you don't mind in departure, stripping the linen and towels off bed and put by the door plus vacuum the apartment and clean it lightly, it was good. Apartment was more then adequate.

Good overall but mattress let it down (room 1 superking)

This was our first trip to Lake District, a short wedding anniversary treat. Intended purely as an exploratory trip to see if we wanted to invest in walking gear and future visits. One day completely washed out with heavy rain and strong wind, remainder let us see some of the area. Owner Paul gave some great insight into where to go and what to do. If I could have slept at night the trip would have been very good despite the weather. Read more

Location good. 5 minute walk to town. Great breakfast. Lovely people. Enough parking. Good views at breakfast. Room clean, big enough and had good selection of bedroom & bathroom bits and bobs.
Dislikes?
I weigh 88kg. The super king mattress and heavy duvet made sleeping impossible for me. The mattress was far too hard. Truly dreadful sleep all three nights. Conversely my 55kg wife slept fine - odd.

Five nights, even, was too short a stay

A beautiful place, inside and out, near but not in the village, with friendly, forthcoming, informative staff. We stayed in a downstairs king suite with good natural light that was very convenient. Even 5 nights seemed too short. Read more

Likes?
The quality of the staff, no stairs to climb, good cooking, gluten-free options for breakfast and tea, staff knowledgeable about my favorite author (Ransome).
Dislikes?
at first the room was too cool, but the staff kindly adjusted the hours and amount of heat.

Great size and quiet lodge

We stayed in a 2 bed lodge and it was absoloutely lovely. Perfect location in the lovely village of coniston, the lodge had everything we needed for our stay, large corner sofa appliances and crockery etc the bedrooms were ample size as was the bathrooms. The owners were very welcoming and informed us of local amenities and places to go and we're just very great. We want to come again and bring our dogs as they also welcome pets which is a bonus. Warm and friendly Welcome in a fantastic location and comfortable accomodation.

3 night stay in the B&B as we were tackling several walks over the long weekend. Wanted something local, and small and comfortable with great value for moneay and that is exactly what we got. It was a birthday treat for my partner and his first time to the Lake District being an Aussie, and he loved the big English breakfasts with the fantastic views out the window. It was a short walk to Coniston so a very quiet but convenient location. Read more

Relax in the heart of the Lakes

This was a wonderfully relaxing weekend to celebrate my wife's birthday. There are lovely walks nearby and Coniston village also has some good pubs so once you've arrived you don't need to use your car. Bluebird Lodge is a fantastic base and the owners are extremely welcoming. We appreciated being five minutes from the village and so close to the water. Read more
