Very enjoyable stay again

As a family group of 7, we wanted to stay somewhere relaxing, with good food, wifi and easy access to the sights of Derbyshire! We ate in the restaurant/bar both nights of our stay. Read more

Despite advising of arrival time, couldn't get in immediately to room after 4pm - thankfully the very helpful owner's son sorted us when standing on doorstep. Need clearer info on when can check in.
Dislikes?
Described as Matlock Lea. Actually no where near Matlock - much nearer [and beyond] Cromford.

A little gem

A birthday weekend in November with snow and ice was no problem with log fires and cosy seating at the Jug and Glass. Read more

Warm and friendly atmosphere. Good food.
Dislikes?
Next time, we will book one of the larger rooms so that my tall husband doesn't bump his head on the sloped ceiling.

Description

Located in the heart of the village of Lea, The Jug and Glass tempts visitors with cask ales, delicious food, a cosy atmosphere and comfortable accommodation. Steeped in history, this delightful Grade II listed English country inn has offered a warm welcome to travellers for over 200 years and continues to offer great hospitality. This 18th Century building, built by the Nightingale family, is reputed to be the site of Florence Nightingale's first hospice. Real ale plays an important role in any good country Inn and the Jug and Glass is no exception. There are regular ales on draught, along with additional guest ales, but if that is not your tipple of choice, we also offer wide selection of wines, ciders, soft drinks and spirits, including our scotch corner. The Jug and Glass boasts a separate restaurant and is the perfect place to enjoy a range of classic grills and inspired home-made dishes. The chef has many years experience and brings his skill and passion to the menu, which ensures you will never leave hungry. Offering a full menu 7 days a week. The Jug and Glass Inn has a large car park and is a suitable venue to host groups in the restaurant or in one of the three bar areas. Free Wi-Fi is available within the public areas.
