From arrival to departure four days later, we felt very much at home in the best of ways. All the staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Relaxed excellence from the time we booked in to the time we left!

We received a lovely warm welcome on arrival and were shown to our room. Everything that we needed to know was explained and everything that we needed was in our room. We had a wonderful meal on the Friday evening and relaxed in the bar by the lovely log fire. Breakfast on both mornings were excellent and we enjoyed our chat with the owner and staff on both occasions. We enjoyed a lovely family meal on the Sunday before sadly having to head for home. A very enjoyable short stay

We had a brief two night stay to attend an event in Plymouth: the hotel is well located for access to the A38. The hotel is well-run with good facilities including the popular bar and restaurant. Poor welcome, grazed shins on bed, no tea or coffee in room

We stayed here on the night before our wedding as we love the food and have visited often. Our welcome on check-in was not as warm as we are used to here. Lovely Long Weekend

We had a such a great stay at the Turtley Corn Mill. The setting is ideal, being close to the motorway and set amongst beautiful scenery. The staff were very welcoming and the whole place has such a lovely 'homely' feel to it. We really felt like we were coming home after a day of sightseeing in Devon and Cornwall. Staff attitudes. Bar staff to gardener...outstanding!

Our stay at the mill was one of those rare pleasures that only comes along every three or four years. Although we had eaten there before (passing through to Salcombe) we had never stayed. From the moment we arrived we received the sort of service that made my wife and I feel like valued guests rather than customers. It was apparent with everyone we encountered. This doesn't happen by accident. Everyone clearly felt valued and had bought into the company philosophy. This was impressive stuff. Read more

I've already talked about the service which was the stand-out feature. We were also impressed by the quality of the fixtures and fittings in the bedrooms. The bed in particular was fantastic !

Our evening meal was unfortunately average. A sign in the kitchen says 'we're here to please not to impress'.
A school report would read ' sets themselves low standards and fails to meet them'shame

Very good - just one small point!

Venue and staff very good, food excellent as usual. Unfortunately during our stay the bedroom lock jammed which meant we were unable to gain access to our room whilst this was sorted. we were seated downstairs and offered coffee and apology made. However no further reference to this was made and we felt further acknowledgement should have been made. Also the shared tea/coffee facilities nice but do need to be better kept Read more

Lovely food and great location.

The staff at Turtley Corn Mill are very welcoming and ensure that they provide a service that you would expect from a 5*star hotel. The rooms are finished to a very high standard and offer Sky TV and Internet. However the best part is the food, the evening meal was 1st class and breakfast ensured that I was set up for a day of Business meetings. Highly Recommended to the point that I would try and stay there now rather than a hotel in Exeter or Plymouth. Read more

Excellent room and delightful setting

Room was superb but perhaps the bed was too big for the room.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
The restaurant was adequate but no more, and the bar area let down by two radios. Read more

Description

Turtley Corn Mill has had a varied history, originally built as a Mill, then converted into a famous chicken hatchery, finally becoming a pub in the 1970's. The setting of Turtley is idyllic; located in the beautiful and varied area of Avonwick, South Hams the original Mill is set in six acres of grounds bordered by the River Glazebrook, we even have our own small lake complete with an island, perfect for sunny days and idle wandering. Perhaps surprisingly for such a picturesque location, Turtley Corn Mill is conveniently located just 2 minutes from the A38 making it easily accessible from all directions. Turtley was completley renovated in 2005, with the addition of the bedrooms in 2008. The interiors are light and fresh, with a noticeable absence of fruit machines, music, or pool tables, all thoughtfully replaced wth newspapers to read, books to browse, great food and beers and interesting wines. We have four double en-suite rooms here at Turtley, all with a a shower and one with a bath, and all are designed and fitted out to the standard now expected by those who travel regularly. Each room is equipped with king-sized beds, duck feather and down duvets, Egyptian cotton linen, Sky free view, flat screen TV’s, free internet connection and powerful, spacious showers and other thoughtful additions for your comfort and relaxation.

Whilst access to the pub is well established for guests with disabilities or special needs, we regret that there is no disabled access to the bedrooms themselves.
