Great room but service could be better

Nice stay however the staff forgot to mention that the pub would be closed on the Sunday therefore at 7.30pm we had to find a restaurant in Dartmouth without having made any booking. We were quite surprised to find the pub closed without any team staff at all and no one to contact in case of emergency. Read more

Perfect for our needs

We needed somewhere local to Woodlands Theme Park & The George Inn fitted the bill as it was only 5 mins drive away. The room was a good size, which was a necessity as we have a 3 year old & 9 month old, we even had enough room to put up our travel cot! Room facilities were excellent, as was the breakfast, which was cooked to perfection. We would definitely consider staying here again if we are in the area. Read more

Thank you Alison, both for the lovely compliments and for the feedback on the breakfast. We have had an on going "sausage" debate for some time now and your comments are really useful. Thank you for reviewing us, knowing that our guests are happy here is very reassuring for all our team. As far as check out times are concerned we are as flexible as possible given that the next guests arriving expect the room to be cleaned, refreshed and ready for them by 12 noon at the latest (sometimes folk need early check ins as well!), and it takes some trime to do the changeover properly. I apologise for a slow breakfast on Sunday, I stand in for my kitchen staff who need a day off

Thank you for posting a review, we always appreciate feedback and we do carefully consider any negative comments. Our only family room is really intended for a couple with small children, so perhaps this should have been more clearly expressed when you booked. Our prices are extremely competitive for this area, and an extra single room for your daughter would have been more expensive with any accommodation provider hereabouts.

Nothing was too much trouble. My Dad can't get on with a duvet and so his bed was changed to sheet and blanket as soon as it was mentioned.

Comfortable inn with friendly and attentive staff - made to feel almost part of the community

Blackawton is not likely to be full of tourists even at the height of the season - it is buried in the countryside down narrow lanes, yet it is still very close to the West Ham peninsula's many coast and country attractions. The inn was welcoming with attractive views, comfortable bedrooms and good evening meals. Would certainly stay again. Read more

Staff were attentive and friendly even on the verge of a big village wedding. We were impressed with the menu and the quality of the meals served. Well deserved their listing in the Good Beer Guide!
