Visiting my father with my son (25yrs), both of us from Sydney, Australia, this is an accessible location for both visiting my relatives and touring nearby countryside sites. Jenny Peel was a wonderful host, making sure we were comfortable and well fed for breakfast. The property is full of character, and in lovely garden surroundings. Also a few minutes walk to the village pubs, and a small village shop which stocks the essentials.
Perfect for our needs. Read more
Thanks Janet. Lovely to see you both again.
From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we loved every minute of our stay.
We were really made to feel at home and the Victoria Sponge on arrival in our room, was a real nice touch.
Our room(Plum) had wonderful views of the countryside and the local church.
The short walk to the Village with its two pubs, post office,Butchers and shop(that's all there is in the village but good enough) was also a real plus. Read more

My family stayed in the Old Parsonage for my wedding. I stayed here for the two nights before my wedding and it was absolutely perfect. The rooms are beautiful and cosy and we all loved them. We can't rate it highly enough - we will definitely all be coming back, we are in love with the Old Parsonage! Read more

We were greeted by the owner Jenny. She took us to our room and told us the routine for milk and breakfast etc. The room was full of character. The house dates back to 1600s I understand. The decor was really in keeping with the building. Lovely bathroom with piping hot water. Loads of sockets and lights for all areas of room. Yea and coffee facilities. Bed comfortable and there was an oil filled radiator in the room to use if you needed to get more cosy. Read more

Living in Crediton (not too far from the Old Parsonage in Winkleigh), we would not have usually gone for a night away so close to home, but are so glad we did! Winkleigh is a very pretty village with a nice pub and useful shop, and it boasts great views of Dartmoor. The Old Parsonage itself is a beautiful old house with plenty of original features - all set in wonderful gardens. The room was clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated.. We fell in love with it! Mentioned as a property in the Doomsday Book. We know it was owned by the Deanery of Exeter until 1906 when it was purchased by the Johnson family who lived here until the 1970s. Both father and son were the local squires of Winkleigh, owning a lot of other property and land. Groom Cottage once, as the name implies, was that thatched cottage that housed the coach and the coachmen/groom and the thatched barn housed two ponies. The back of the house (all thatched) has a 'hidden courtyard' and the now bed and breakfast rooms were once the gardener's cottage. The garden is at its best during April/May when the Azaleas and Rhododendrons are in bloom. Please Note: We are a No-Smoking property. Regrettably, we cannot accept pets. Check-In time: 16:00 and Check-Out time: 10:00.
