Ideally positioned to explore the Union Canal cycle path to Falkirk. Access to canal basin is about 300 meters. Though no rear access to guest house, I was allowed to wheel my bicycle through ground floor to park securely in back yard. ( I checked first it was ok). Very helpful and accommodating. Read more
The rooms were small but clean. The staff was very friendly. Sharing bathroom was the only negative experience- lots of hair in bathtub Read more
we really enjoyed staying in Cruachan Guest House, the place itself is only a 10-15 minute walk from the centre of Belfast, the breakfast was really enjoyable and the room whilst old fashioned in style was very clean and comfortable. there are tea coffee and biscuits on arrival and breakfast is very generous. the owners are very knowledgeable about the city and give great directions and information about where to go. Many thanks for those very kind remarks Annette and it was a great pleasure having you both here. Hopefully we will see you again sometime. The one thing I should mention is that claiming we are only 15 minutes from Belfast is maybe stretching things a little.

The room was clean and bed comfortable. The breakfast was adequate. What I did find cereals/orange juice were non branded,no option of juice and everything was in the cheape range. Grapefruit/mixed fruit would have been a nice touch. my partner, being a vegetarian, wasn't offered any soy sausage/bacon, although I had mentioned his preference, before booking. Read more

We went to Edinburgh for the weekend and this guesthouse was a perfect choice: at a walkable distance from everything, really clean and cosy, with a really good breakfast and a really nice and helpful owner. We always walked from here to the city centre without any problem. When back to the house there was always a tea or coffee and biscuits to wait us. The bathroom is clean and spacious, the bed comfortable and the place is really quiet and silent. Definitely the right place to choose! Read more

We stayed over a Friday and Saturday night. The owner was friendly , and helpful. However the accommodation was cramped, and small. The "lounge with TV' - we never found this - and the breakfast room was not clean, with tables grubby, and cereal from the dispenser not wiped away from one morning to the next.
One of my pillows did not have a pillow case - the bed was comfortable. This was extremely expensive, as there were no facilities apart from a small bedroom Read more

The room furniture was dated but perfectly adequate for one person. The toilet and shower area was the smallest I had ever seen but with careful manoevering I managed to access and use all the facilities. Shower pressure was minimal but adequate. The one-channel TV on top of the wardrobe was difficult to watch for any length of time due to its height above the floor. The owner was very friendly and provided a very good breakfast. I had 24 hour access to my room with keys for all entrance doors. Read more

My sister and I decided to visit Edinburgh for few days in April. We had the ground floor twin en suite room which was lovely and spacoius and not too noisy. A great B&B we would definately stay here again :) Read more

I visited the guest house for 4 days in winter. The owner was friendly from the start (didn't mind that I was late arriving due to the bad weather). Food was delicious, the bathroom was close by and everything necessary was in the room ie coffee, tea, tv etc. Downtown and the train station were only a 10 minute bus trip away so I found it very useful for visiting all the sights and for general safety purposes Read more

Hi Thomas, many thanks for your review and I hope that the breakfast times did not spoil your visit.
Breakfast times are from 8 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. but earlier breakfast is available on request. Unfortunately 9.30 is later than most
guest houses in the Edinburgh area and we do not, at present, plan any changes to that time.
I enjoyed my stay very much. The hosts were very very friendly and welcomed you like old friends. Read more

Comfortable and big room for a single, although TV set was a bit too high.

The guesthouse is strictly non-smoking and all rooms have a full coffee and tea service and TV, many rooms are also equipped with hairdryers. A very select breakfast is served in our bright conservatory which offers, apart from a full Scottish breakfast, porridge, local kippers plus a range of home made salmon fish cakes, tattie scones and cheese, onion and potato grills.
