Accommodating Accommodation, A Budget Beater, Friendly & Frill Free.

Ideally positioned to explore the Union Canal cycle path to Falkirk. Access to canal basin is about 300 meters. Though no rear access to guest house, I was allowed to wheel my bicycle through ground floor to park securely in back yard. ( I checked first it was ok). Very helpful and accommodating. Read more

Helpful and friendly, no fuss, direct and honest proprietor. I managed to get a hot bath in most days, on return from cycling, despite shared bathroom. Small rear yard totally secure for parking bike

Access to small rear yard needed to be timed to avoid necessity of passing through dining area during breakfast but did not prove a problem for me.

Really enjoyed our stay

we really enjoyed staying in Cruachan Guest House, the place itself is only a 10-15 minute walk from the centre of Belfast, the breakfast was really enjoyable and the room whilst old fashioned in style was very clean and comfortable. there are tea coffee and biscuits on arrival and breakfast is very generous. the owners are very knowledgeable about the city and give great directions and information about where to go. Read more

Response

Many thanks for those very kind remarks Annette and it was a great pleasure having you both here. Hopefully we will see you again sometime. The one thing I should mention is that claiming we are only 15 minutes from Belfast is maybe stretching things a little.

Convenient for centre of Edinburgh.

The room was clean and bed comfortable. The breakfast was adequate. What I did find cereals/orange juice were non branded,no option of juice and everything was in the cheape range. Lovely guesthouse in Edinburgh

We went to Edinburgh for the weekend and this guesthouse was a perfect choice: at a walkable distance from everything, really clean and cosy, with a really good breakfast and a really nice and helpful owner. Not quite what I expected - expensive for a small room with no other facilities.

We stayed over a Friday and Saturday night. The owner was friendly , and helpful. However the accommodation was cramped, and small. The "lounge with TV' - we never found this - and the breakfast room was not clean, with tables grubby, and cereal from the dispenser not wiped away from one morning to the next.
One of my pillows did not have a pillow case - the bed was comfortable. This was extremely expensive, as there were no facilities apart from a small bedroom Read more

Despite the compactness of the room and toilet/shower area, all my requirements were met.

The room furniture was dated but perfectly adequate for one person. The toilet and shower area was the smallest I had ever seen but with careful manoevering I managed to access and use all the facilities. Shower pressure was minimal but adequate. The one-channel TV on top of the wardrobe was difficult to watch for any length of time due to its height above the floor. The owner was very friendly and provided a very good breakfast. I had 24 hour access to my room with keys for all entrance doors. Read more

Hi Thomas, many thanks for your review and I hope that the breakfast times did not spoil your visit.
Breakfast times are from 8 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. but earlier breakfast is available on request. Unfortunately 9.30 is later than most

Carpets could do with a clean in the room and up the stairs. Would have liked some decaff coffe and more milk in the room.

Great choice for a B&B!

A friend and I stayed three nights while on a weekend trip to Scotland. The place was great. It was quiet and spacious. The owner was extremely friendly. And the breakfast was fabulous! Read more

The breakfast! :) We had two twin beds and it was a huge room.

No one was there when we first arrived; however, there is a phone with information on how to reach the owner. Once you call to tell him you arrived, he is there within a few minutes.

Friendly, good location, but host stuff up a few things

I had a short break in Edinburgh staying in Cruachan Guest House. Good location for any one to travel Edinburgh Castle, most tourist attraction is within 10 mins walking distance. Read more

After the first night, room was not cleaned and room key was left inserted at the door. this is big concern for security reason. As my room was next to main entrance, anyone walking pass could breakin

Quiet, convenient location

I stayed at the Cruachan guest house for 2 nights while I was attending a business course. It was conveniently located for me as it was on a quiet side street but was close to the main attractions and near the centre where my business course was taking place. The owner was very friendly and helped me with directions, . I did not have time for a full breakfast so can't comment on that. I stayed in a single room, which was surprisingly spacious and had a tv complete with freeview. Read more

I returned to the guest house earlier than anticipated on one night and there was no answer when I ringed the bell so I had to wait a few mins outside before another guest let me in.
