lovely location, pleasant stay

We arrived at the farm slightly earlier than the earlier check in we had asked for during the booking process, this wasn't a problem as our room had been cleaned & was ready. We had a peaceful nights sleep - except afew animal noises, which is to be expected staying on a farm. Breakfast was delicious & plenty of it. The rooms are basic, but have everything you need. Kingsize comfort, pauper price

Rooms are in a converted farm building; not large but clean and nicely furnished. We stayed for one night (only, luckily) and were thrown out of bed by three screaming peacocks at 4 a.m.; the modest rooms overlook the yard, a view not really being envied for and the breakfast room is part of a shack, smokefilled by the baconcrate and filled with very old chairs and tables - lorrydriver-ambience. Very accomodating allowing us to check in a bit early and helping us out with transport to and from venue. Lovely isolated spot but a bit tricky when trying to direct a cab, not knowing the area and a wee tipsy after 10 hours at a wedding. very comfortable bunk house - note that your accomodation is not in the farm house and there are 8 bunk houses in total so ideal for a large group. Great Room, Lovely People, Delicious Breakfast

The room was spacious, clean and with everything you would need. Staff were very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was perfect - as much or as little as you wanted. Very well located for access to the surrounding areas and also Stansted Airport. Definitely Good Value for money and we couldn't recommend a stay there highly enough. Thank you! Read more

Our main reason for booking the hotel was because it was dog friendly which allowed our dog to stay with us instead of at a kennel.

Excellent standard of accomodation for B & B, very clean and comfortable. Owners very friendly.

We only stayed 1 night at Blachets Farm but we very impressed with the facilities in the accomodation which was clean, comfortable and very nicely presented.
There were good quality linen and toiletries. Breakfast was excellent. B&B's have uped their game if this one is anything to go by!! Would recommend it and would stay again should we go back to that part of the country. Read more

Only 1 quibble, we expected hairdryers in the rooms as this was advertised in the blurb on the internet site but there weren't any, luckily one of our daughters had brought one any way!!

Description

Welcome to the Blatches Farm. We are family run bed and breakfast. The farm location is in the middle of the Essex countryside, yet only about Seven miles from Stansted airport. We offer comfortable accommodation in a relaxed environment. Between London and the sea lies the ancient Saxon County of Essex. As you travel from west to east the landscape in this vast county transforms from historic woodlands, through rolling wheat-fields dotted with poppies and windmills, to the estuaries and coastal villages and towns of the great North Sea. But what many visitors are unprepared for is that beneath this peaceful rural exterior beats an ancient heart, steeped in centuries of heritage and culture. Across the county, mighty castles and coastal forts commemorating past invasions rub shoulders with museums celebrating past traditions; galleries honour homegrown talent; historic churches abound and a plethora of stately treasure houses and glorious gardens, large and small, beckon exploration. The farm is an ideal location for business trips or pleasure with the Flitch way passing the back of the farm with no need to go on the road for walks or cycling. We have our own fishing pond stocked with carp, roach, chub and perch for our guests to enjoy, either fishing or feeding the fish. The area offers various attractions for all ages with local market towns like Great Dunmow (famous for the flitch trials), Thaxted and Saffron Walden.

All rooms are at ground floor level with a small step. All rooms have en-sute walk in shower rooms.
