The Cross Keys Information

Description

The building dates back some 850 years and is one of the most important buildings architecturally and commercially in the center of Saffron Walden. Restored and renovated in 2012, nine unique bedrooms have been added to the Cross keys award winning food and service. Each one of the bedrooms is different with its own unique character. Including 3 beautiful deluxe rooms added in 2015. We don’t believe in doing fussy and complicated things with these delicious ingredients, but instead would rather they were complimented, treated with love and brought to the table just as they should be. Eat with us and choose from classic dishes such as fish and chips or Pork Belly. For those who might want to be a little more adventurous, we are proud of our selection of often changing specials. Our Menu is wine matched by wine maker extraordinaire Chester Osborn. We celebrate his palate and viticulture skills by stocking a wide range of his delicious d’Arenberg wines and many more from around the world. The bedrooms provide all the luxuries of contemporary living. Crisp bed linen, hand-sprung mattresses, Hungarian feather-down duvets, deep free standing slipper baths or monsoon showers are as standard. All the comforts of today are here as well – you will find a flat screen television, Wifi, freeview and a personal iPod dock/iPhone charger in your room. In the morning relax and enjoy breakfast, anything from a 'Full English' to an 'Eggs Benedict' or simply toast and pastries. Our team want nothing more other than to make sure you have a splendid start to your day.

Accessibility

Our beautiful restaurant is set on one level, excluding the coffee shop and terrace which has a couple of steps to enter it from the restaurant. However it is accessible from the outside, so you won't miss the chance to dine al fresco or to enjoy a lovely cappuccino and one of our delicious cakes. There is a disabled toilet located downstairs, with handrails and an emergency alarm. Unfortunately our bedrooms are on the next floor, which is only accessible via stairs or via a spiral staircase.
