staying several days for business

I have stayed for 4.consecutive nights. The setting us lovely and peaceful. I have found the food and service to be very good. Staff are friendly and welcoming. As I am here on business and travelling alone it is good to find somewhere that is comfortable to sit alone. The pub is well supported by locals and has a nice buzz in the evenings. I plan to stay here again shortly. Read more

Lovely breakfast and room nice but let down by the Bathroom.

We were upgraded as our original room had plumbing issues. Although the room was smart and clean, the bathroom was not very clean. Superficial surfaces were clean but the bath was actually quite grimy. Also a little odd these days to have an expensive room a proper shower in which you can stand up. This was an over the bath shower but you had to sit in the bath. We were upgraded to the junior suite but we were glad we hadn't paid extra for the suite as we would've been disappointed Read more

Disappointing and expensive for what was a pub with rooms.

A short break and attend a wedding Reception was very unfriendly, breakfast on the Saturday was shared with a number of dead beetles and the night before food. Food that came out was good but Sundays just average. No hair dryer in the room tea and coffee not replaced for our whole stay. hallways and public areas very dirty. The whole place needs some love and care as it was all very tired. We have stayed in better hotels for far less money. Read more

A warm, comfortable and friendly place to stay

I stayed at the Cricketer's Arms over the Christmas period so I could visit family members living in the area. It was a good choice and in a beautiful setting.I would certainly stay there again. Read more

Beautiful Food, shame about the noise

An overnight stay to visit friends. We all had an excellent meal in the restaurant, very friendly staff and nothing was too much trouble. The only down side to our stay was the noise. Opposite our room was the staff room(?) so at midnight and 8am in the morning lots of noise. Hint: Dont accept Rooms 4 or 5. Read more

Lovely location for a short break but a few niggles

stayed for night as recommended hotel as being near wedding reception venue. Good service on arrival, shown our room and everything explained re breakfast and night door. On our return after the wedding the night door combination didn't work! It transpired that another guest had somehow locked the door from the inside! Oh, seemed to be a very limited supply of local cab firms so best to book journeys in advance. Read more

Very nice location overlooking picturesque village green. Room was decent enough for a short stay. Breakfast was good in the morning.
Dislikes?
The fire doors on the ground floor banged shut which was irritating. Not exclusive to this place but why do bar staff insist on spraying cleaner on the bar when someone else is serving you drinks?!

Excellent and friendly service, good food.

Just stayed one night while in the area. The whole village was due a power cut in the morning (tree lopping I believe) and we were informed beforehand a cooked breakfast wouldn't be possible - discount given for this. The alternative continental provided was good - after the excellent meal the night before was all we needed! Staff were all very attentive and helpful. A great place to stay for a night or two. Unfortunately the weather meant we couldn't fully appreciate the cricket ground view. Read more

Excellent location - shame about the service - Very dissapointed

Looking forward to staying in the Crickets Arms as we had eaten there before. Very dissapointed with the room service, choice at breakfast was the worst I have every experienced. Sleeping with a winter duvet on the bed in summer is difficult. Very poor value for money. Read more

The rooms were not cleaned, no dry towels clean cups or beds made on the Sunday. Breakfast was abysmal on Sunday morning slightly improving on Monday with a choice of yogurts. Heavy duvets in summer!!

Nice hotel, not best choice for business traveller

First room had an ant problem, moved quickly to alternative room. However no mobile signal and the free wireless was appalling connectivity and not much use at all if you could even get connected. Staff were friendly. Bed was made most days but bins were not emptied all week. Check out was annoying as no VAT receipts were available. TV had four channels most nights only. Read more
