Good value for the price

Overnight stay. Simple check-in and no problems at all. Room was as described and there weren't any noise issues. Read more

There wasn't any traffic or guest noise and I was happy with the price I paid for my room.
Dislikes?
The whole place is slightly worn down. I didn't mind, because that's reflected in the cheap prices, but if you can't deal with that kind of thing then you might want to look elsewhere.

Cheap, a bit grotty but fine...

My stay was good, single rooms are very pokey, rooms clean but whole place a bit worn. Staff polite when requests made. Overall, you get what you pay for, if you want cheap and don't mind rooms that are a bit small and outdated then its fine but if you want a beautiful romantic get away, pay more and go elsewhere. OK but could be cleaner and smell fresher

Spent 5 nights in a room that was not big but large enough to accommodate our needs. Besides the dust on furniture and decoration, the shower cabin door could be easily cleaner as well as the washbasin. Nothing smelled fresh nor clean even though we kept the window open during all our stay. However, I doubt one could find better conditions for the same price range and location. Read more

The breakfast was quite filling and in general our room was very quiet except for some noise made by guests who departed very early. Having a kettle with tea and coffee in the room is a bonus.

Dissapointing!

Arrived in early evening and thankfully didn't have to stay in the room longer than an hour before we went out for the evening. The lighting in our room was awful. The bulb produced a cold bluish light that created a horrible atmosphere. Slept ok when back in room. Adequate

I can understand that building work & updating needs to be done. But when I don't need to go to work til midday and the banging/drilling/sanding could start as early as 9am. I hardly think it's fair considering I've paid as much as anyone else to be there. Read more

Friendly, but a few things to pick up on

My partner and I came down to Southampton for 3 reasons - I visited to catch up on a place where I once went to college, to do research for a book I'm writing, and for a brief break. The weather was very nice, and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing and experiencing the place I once lived in again. Read more

One issue was that the shower was in the bedroom! This may have been an oversight by me in booking the room, but it was a factor. Also there was chewing gum left in it, and the room was very small.

An enjoyable precruise stay in Southampton

The Polygon is very close to the central bus station. We could have walked there but I had a problem with walking so took an inexpensive taxi. We had a full afternoon and a full morning to see Southampton before boarding our cruise ship. a comfortable stay - room was dated no frills, bed comfy but pillows very worn and flat. not the quietest of locations with the chime of the near by clock going off every hour signaling the coming morning. breakfast was very good, well cooked, tasty lovely cuppa and hot buttered toast. well worth the money a no frill cheap stay in the centre of a great city Read more
