We stayed overnight on July 4. This was the last night of our Wales and England tour, so we had a great meal in Winchester Centre in the evening and walked back to 31 Queens Road for a quiet night. It's only a 12 min walk and it's in a residential area, so, nice and quiet. Read more

Anna, Thank you very much for your very positive review. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and hope you will come and see us agian soon. Yours Richard
From the moment I walked into the house I felt welcome. From the welcome tag on my bedroom door to Richard offering to book me a taxi everything was great. I was skeptical about staying at what seemed like their home when booked but this was unnecessary as the rooms are seperate from theirs so you don't feel in the way. Bed was so comfortable and room had a nice view of the Winchester hills. Read more
I arrived on a cold wet day and the owner was out for the day; however, Richard had left me the code for accessing the keys so I had no problems accessing the home. The home is a pleasant home, close tithe university, there is a pub on the corner and a two minute walk to the bus stop. The bus gives you a fast ride into town and there are frequent services.
My room was serviced daily and all my needs were met by the friendly staff. Read more

This was such a find. So much thought has gone into preparing the house to accommodate visitors: it's all very nicely done, in a low-key, unpretentious way (exactly our cup of tea). Everything was immaculately clean, and the beds were made every morning! I didn't expect that. Richard was hospitable and helpful. The location was excellent, for us. Finally, inevitably, I left something behind and he promptly emailed to confirm that he would post it back to me. Read more

lovely room good transport to town via no 5 Bus very cheap for a taxi or if able walk only 15 mins .However uphill on the way back.

No 31 was ideally placed for our visit. The off-road parking was a real bonus as we didn't use the car during our stay. With the main shops less than 10mins walk away - a bit more coming back up-hill - it was ideal. Although close to the hospital and student accommodation, it was surprisingly quiet. Read more

Disappointed there appears to have been a problem with Kazuko's breakfast but communication was not straightforward. Hoped that by providing coffee for her daughter whilst she returned to her room to get changed after we relayed an email from a relative and arranged a taxi to take her to the station at very short notice, we had demonstrated a high level of customer service.

Have asked our plumber to see what can be done about this. As a safety feature, our electic showers are default set to become colder rather than hotter should the water pressure change (i.e someone flushes a toilet or turns on a shower elsewhere in the house). There are two heating settings (high and low) on the showers and temperature control for both settings.

Advertising a 'self-service continental style' breakfast we attempt to cater for as many tastes as possible. If available we assist in making tea and coffee, warm criossants and make toast but also have to ensure that when guest are helping themselves they feel the food is fresh and hygenically stored. Chilled storage is available and food is individually wrapped. We don't provide portion size guidance, do try to keep close watch on availability but occassionally are surprised on single items.
Richard is simply the best: he helped us out with a charger, printed maps and even had an Easter present for us. The room was very cosy and lovely and of course very clean. Breakfast was more and better than we expected it. All in all it was a perfect accomodation for us. Read more

We are very sorry there was a problem with the TV in the room. It is a shame you didn't ask at the time as unfortunately during your stay the Winchester was going through the Digital TV Changeover and sometimes we had to re-tune the TV's more than once a day to make sure they were working properly. I am very pleased this didn't seem to impact on your overall experience too much.
