Service with a smile

We stayed overnight on July 4. This was the last night of our Wales and England tour, so we had a great meal in Winchester Centre in the evening and walked back to 31 Queens Road for a quiet night. It's only a 12 min walk and it's in a residential area, so, nice and quiet. Read more

So welcoming! Richard is very helpful. Strongly recommend

From the moment I walked into the house I felt welcome. From the welcome tag on my bedroom door to Richard offering to book me a taxi everything was great. I was skeptical about staying at what seemed like their home when booked but this was unnecessary as the rooms are seperate from theirs so you don't feel in the way. Bed was so comfortable and room had a nice view of the Winchester hills. Read more

Richard was so friendly and welcoming, The room had everything that was needed and was not as cramped as some hotels I have stayed in. Richard let me leave my belongings there on Sun while I explored.
Dislikes?
Everything was great, the only minor is I would have preferred a cooked breakfast than the continental one offered, That said the breakfast provided did the job and helped aid the hangover.

Good location for sightseeing

I arrived on a cold wet day and the owner was out for the day; however, Richard had left me the code for accessing the keys so I had no problems accessing the home. The home is a pleasant home, close tithe university, there is a pub on the corner and a two minute walk to the bus stop. The bus gives you a fast ride into town and there are frequent services.

My room was serviced daily and all my needs were met by the friendly staff. Read more

Great!

This was such a find. So much thought has gone into preparing the house to accommodate visitors: it's all very nicely done, in a low-key, unpretentious way (exactly our cup of tea). Everything was immaculately clean, and the beds were made every morning! I didn't expect that. Richard was hospitable and helpful. The location was excellent, for us. Finally, inevitably, I left something behind and he promptly emailed to confirm that he would post it back to me. Read more

Have asked our plumber to see what can be done about this. As a safety feature, our electic showers are default set to become colder rather than hotter should the water pressure change (i.e someone flushes a toilet or turns on a shower elsewhere in the house). Advertising a 'self-service continental style' breakfast we attempt to cater for as many tastes as possible. If available we assist in making tea and coffee, warm criossants and make toast but also have to ensure that when guest are helping themselves they feel the food is fresh and hygenically stored. Chilled storage is available and food is individually wrapped. We don't provide portion size guidance, do try to keep close watch on availability but occassionally are surprised on single items.

Friendly, family run B&B

I stayed at 31 Queens Road for 3 mights. The room was spacious, clean, nicely furnished and equipped. The owners were helpful and friendly. The location is a quiet residential area a short and pleasant walk from the centre of Winchester. Prices were reasonable. I'd highly recommend this B&B to future visitors to Winchester. Read more

A very comfortable overnight stay: recommended.

Very helpful owner - was happy to take in our luggage and store it when we arrived to check where the accommodation was, even though it was early in the day and we were not expecting to be able to leave the bags. We were also given the parking permit in advance so there was no problem parking the car when we arrived late in the evening. B & B comfortable and well-equipped. Food very good. Read more

As your room was not ensuite we do try to service the shared bathroom after each use however, we are obviously reliant upon guests leaving it as they would expect to find it.

Lovely accommodation with really helpful staff

A delightful stay from start to finish, we were really happy with the rooms and by the help provided by Richard, from restaurant tips to providing an iron. The house is 10 minutes or so walk from the centre, but a bit harder going on the way back given the hill. If you're feeling lazy then you can get a cab for a fiver. Read more

If walking from town, I'd suggest walking up the main road up past the Miltary museums, we tried to route through the uni and got a little lost. The B&B isn't far from town at all, if you're not lost!

Quite a nice place

I was in Winchester for a week doing some work and found 31 Queen's Road a comfortable and welcome place to stay. I wasn't able to get the internet reliably in my room and some of the tv channels were a bit patchy, but it was a comfortable room and a good, basic breakfast. Richard was also very kind about letting me use his microwave and gave me some LemSip when I came down with a bit of a head cold. All in all avery homely stay. Read more
