Nestled within the Wye Valley in Herefordshire, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Castle Lodge Hotel is a classic Georgian style house dating back to the 1720’s and retains a number of original features. As a small property Castle Lodge Hotel offers you the chance to be looked after with a real homely atmosphere and individual treatment or for business meetings, families or small groups. It is a family run hotel with 10 end-suite bedrooms individually decorated and named after local border castles to provide a welcome, fresh and comfortable place to stay. ROSS is less than a mile away. Conveniently situated equidistant between Gloucester, Hereford and Monmouth makes an ideal base from which to explore the wide range of eating, shopping, leisure and recreational facilities in the area. The antique shops and cafes of Ledbury and the famous ruins of Tintern Abbey. Nature trails within as The Forest of Dean, the Brecon Beacons and Malvern Hills are on the doorstep. Situated just off the A40, Castle Lodge Hotel is a great stopping off point for trips to Cardiff, Birmingham and Holyhead or for major attractions such as Cheltenham Racing, Hay-on-Wye Book Festival, Malvern Spring or Autumn Show, visitors are attracted from various directions to this scenic and historic part of the country. Herefordshire’s market gardeners and farmers are renowned for the quality and variety of their seasonal produce.

Accessibility

All bedrooms are accessed via 15 stairs to the first floor and another 15 stairs to the top floor. Rooms on top floor have limited ceiling heights. There are 3 steps down to the bar toilets.

  • Road from M50 (Junction 8 of the M5) (23.5 miles)
    From the M5 take Junction 8 onto the M50, Exit at the roundabout, taking first left past the first BP petrol station towards the next roundabout, taking the third left into the A40 toward`s Monmouth, At the third roundabout slow down and turn sharp left at the BPgarage, and then IMMEDIATELY left into the slip road along the A40.
  • Road from Wales M4 Newport / A449 Monmouth (30.0 miles)
    From the M4 exit at junction 24 following taking the A449 for 13 miles towards Monmouth, at the Raglan roundabout take the 2nd exit and stay on the A40 for 7 miles to Monmouth and again stay on the A40 (with signs to M50) for 10 miles to the Wilton Roundabout, slowly take the 3rd exit turn into Ross and IMMEDIATELY left, opposite the BP Entrance, into the slip road parallel to the A40 on the Wilton roundabout.
  • Bus from Hereford Rail Station (15.0 miles)

    Busses are hourly No.32 or No.33 from HEREFORD STATION takes 55 minutes to Wilton         OR FROM GLOUCESTER STATION (20 miles) No.33 from Gloucester takes 1hr20min  .  .  .  .

    Otherwise Trains from Paddington take you to Gloucester (or Hereford). Then take a bus (No 33) into Ross, Cantilupe street which takes 42 minutes. and a 15 minute walk to Wilton or take a Taxi at 5pounds for a 4 minute drive
