Normally stay at Premier Inn but de.cided on this Guest House - will stay again definitely

It was only one night but usually don't sleep well on first night. This was an exception and had a really good sleep, perhaps helped by walking in the Forest of Dean!! Read more

Excellent value for money and very friendly welcoming service

I had booked 2 nights to stay in the area whilst working there. I was made to feel very comfortable and welcome from the moment I arrived. The room was very spacious and the bed was large and comfortable, the room also had an ensure with both a bath and shower. I was unable to stay for breakfast and was provided with a breakfast to go. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends and family. Read more

Parking can be a bit of a chore in the fact that there's no place to park at the guest house although there's public car parks nearby and you have to renew your ticket by 8:00

Great overnight stay

I chose this accommodation based on cost, as myself and a friend needed somewhere to stay as we were going to a friends wedding. However, I have to say nothing about the stay came across as cheap. We were made to feel very welcome, the owners were rally helpful and the rooms were of a good quality. I would certainly recommend the guest house to anyone. Read more

Great spot for a weekend getaway

Raglan House as in a great spot in the middle of the small town-centre of Ross-on-Wye, we stayed Friday to Sunday on our way back to the north-west from the south-west, and a very enjoyable mooch around the local area and some nice walks around the wye valley. Read more

The proprietors Robert and Julie were very welcoming and helpful and made us feel immediately at home, and for a double ensuite I thought the price was very reasonable, they do very nice breakfast too

The only criticism i could level would be that our laptop couldn't see the wifi network from our room, but we managed to connect to another open network as a workaround

Great guest house with friendly owners

We stayed 2 nights at Raglan House and enjoyed our time there. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. Rooms were comfortable and en-suite was nice with a good shower. Fast WiFi included in the price which most hotels do not seem to provide for free these days. Very central location and finding a place to park was no issue. Read more

Ask for a rear room

The stay was fine apart from the awful noise from the pub / club a few doors away between 2am and 2.30am which woke us up and completely tarnished our stay. (We live next to an RAF station and sleep through the night time noise with no problem). If we hadn't paid in advance we would certainly have haggled over the bill. I would say the 2(?) street facing rooms are un-useable on nights when the pub is operating its night club. Read more

Response

Although out of our control I appologise for any disturbance. Having checked with the venue it was evident that a party had taken place & there was street noise. As a result of this feedback & not wishing any re-occurrence we have decided to have acoustic secondary glazing fitted to the windows of the front rooms.(Early August). A note with regards to a possibility of street noise has always been on our marketing statement. The fitment of the extra glazing should put an end to any future concern

Likes?
For a one night stay the room was fine.

The staff were very pleasant and helpful although a little busy managing both the hotel and the cafe below.

Breakfast was huge!
Dislikes?
The street noise from the clubbers at kicking out time was truly horrendous so sadly, on balance, I would not recommend this hotel (for weekends) unless a room to rear of the property was reserved.

We have adhered a note on the window to indicate how to operate the catch & changed a humble tap washer to improve the water flow.

On the hottest day of the year, not being able to open the windows was a little frustrating.
The shower was just a trickle of luke-warm water. Fine in summer, but less so on a cold day I imagine

A noisy near pub (in particular a loud music), but it was a Saturday night and could be fine if we would stay on the back of the house.
