ROOM ONE is one of our best rooms, it is a beautiful ground floor room, with turn of the century furniture and beautiful paintings on the cream-coloured walls. The two pairs of French doors open directly on to a patio with an old French table and chairs in the lovely cottage garden, there are gauze nets curtains and blackout blinds on the doors. The two rooflights, also with black out blinds, and are placed either side of centre of the raised ceiling roof apex, making this a light, bright room. The double bed has a new memory-foam topped mattress on a sprung base, laundry clean white cotton sheets and four pillows. The 13.5 tog winter duvet is anti-allergy with tartan bed throws of recycled lambswool. A lightweight 10 tog anti-allergy duvet for the summer, with a luxurious Windsor bedspread in pure white is made from 100% percale cotton, which features an intricate, quilted pattern that enhances the tactile texture of this soft, natural fabric. The bedside cabinets have wall reading lights either side of the bed. The ensuite is on the right in the room, and has a power shower with instant hot water, a heated towel rail, an LED mirror and free toiletries. The beverage welcome tray comes with assorted teas, freshly ground coffee and a French press. A hair-dryer, a fan and a large, flat screen TV with remote, are provided. The dining room of 11 Orchard Street, has a semi-circular mahogany bar, and today offers the service of a bottle bar available on request. The walls are a calm cream and decorated with many pictures of horses which connects with the original name The Black Horse, which it still bears today. Antique rugs cover the original varnished pine floorboards, and the walls are made of the original pitch pine panelling, all carefully restored and polished, and today looking as beautiful as it would have done in Victorian times.

Room Four is on the second floor, up two flights of steep stairs, it has a low doorway to enter, with two sash windows, one viewing the street, and the other with views across the city to the cathedral. The room is positioned at the top of the house, and overlooks the rear garden. The garden is beautifully designed by the owner, and regularly maintained, with a small circular pond with a fountain. The borders are full of old cottage plants and beautiful roses and clematis. The beds have new memory-foam topped mattress on a sprung base, laundry clean white cotton sheets, four pillows and a 13.5 tog anti-allergy duvet in the winter with bed throws of recycled lambswool, and our luxurious Windsor pure white bedspreads made from 100% percale cotton and features an intricate quilted pattern, and a lightweight 10 tog anti-allergy duvet for the summer. The beverage welcome tray comes with assorted teas, freshly ground coffee and a French press. A hair-dryer, a fan and a large, flat screen TV with remote, are provided. There is a beautiful varnished pine floor dining room on the ground floor of the house, with antique oak furniture, which is very in keeping with the age of the building.

SUSTAINABILITY *Being aware of energy consumption, via an app controlled heating system, and ensuring all possible steps are taken to keep our usage as low as possible. We changed supplier a while ago to Octopus renown for its green approach. *We recycle hard plastic, tins, glass and paper. *We use all kitchen waste to feed the chickens who supply our eggs, and green waste is composted on owners small holding, and is then used for garden plants. *Fresh local flowers are provided weekly from the owners garden and a friends garden. *Where ever possible we use locally sourced food products. For example our Award Winning sausages come from a local farm and shop. *We have a high EPC rating as during the restoration the roof, walls, ceilings and floors are not only sound boarded, but are also extra insulated. The lighting is all LED.
