Great for disabled guests

Me and my husband both enjoyed our stay from the moment we got there till we left. The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Read more

There was nothing I did not like about our stay and will be back at the end of the year/next year.

Absolutely disgusting

On arriving we had to go in through the back, that's ok.
The first impression on entering was poor quality. When we were taken up to the room the disappointment was very high. The room was poorly decorated, the windows either did not open because they were sealed shut and there were no fasteners on the windows to close them. The room was not clean therefore we could not put our clothes away, they stayed on the bed. The bathroom was dirty, had to clean myself, washbasin was useless baby siz Read more

Friendly staff, good quality food, beds were really comfortable and clean.
Dislikes?
Dirty room, dirty bathroom had to clean myself with bleach, cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired, but if you are a spider or creepy crawly it could be classed as home

Poor stay in a mis-represented hotel

Rooms were dirty, and did not look anything like the photographs portrayed on the website. Carpets were all worn and dirty, and the hotel was supposed to be disabled friendly but did not really provide anything that should have passed any tests. Read more

A friendly welcome with great wheelchair access. Close to tram stop on Promenade.

We stayed for two nights at The Shellard Hotel with our disabled son for a seaside treat. We chose this hotel for its location, parking, wheelchair accessibility and family room options. Read more

The room and bathroom was spacious enough for a bulky wheelchair to move around in easily. A lift and ramp at front and back was welcomed, along with off street parking.
Dislikes?
Lumpy mattresses need replacing and generally a bit of updating in decor required.

Not one bit impressed. Unclean place. Many things didn't work ie: T.V/Lights

The sheets were dirty, and kids bed smelt like smelly feet. Our double bed had blood on the sheet, there was no plug for the sink.oh and t.v. didn't work.We have three children,so it took us a bit longer to get them and ourselves ready in the morning.Came downstairs at 10a.m and was told we couldn't have any breakfast.Didn't get any sleep because of really noisy floorboods above us.The owner didn't make us welcome at all. Was not told when we had to be out, or downstairs for breakfast. Couldn't use bar, because owner said there was no point in opening it,because there wasn't enough customers staying that night.

Great potential

we had a 1 night stay with me and my kids and mum, the hotel has just been taken over by new owners and is very much a work in progress, the staff are excellent and the breakfast is awesome, the whole hotel could do with some paint and a clean up in some areas , but the feel of the hotel is very good and i am sure when the decorating is done and the owner gets what she wants this will be a fabulous little hotel to stay in. Description

Ideally located close to all tourist attractions, The Shellard Hotel prides itself in providing quality accommodation at a competitive price. We believe that if we offer comfortable accommodation, good food and attentive service that our guests will choose to return to the hotel time and time again. Of the 20 rooms available at The Shellard Hotel 10 are fully wheelchair accessible, with ensuite wet rooms and roll in showers, all rooms have ensuite shower facilities. All floors can be accessed by the spacious lift and we also provide ground floor accommodation. We have shower chairs, toilet frames and manual wheelchairs available for guests to use throughout their stay and are also able to rent equipment such as hoists or mobility scooters should they be required. All public areas are fully accessible. We primarily cater for couples & families although do take small mixed groups but NOT Stags and Hens or large same sex groups. Our food is all locally sourced and prepared fresh each day, when we state that it's home cooked it does not mean that we've mixed a paste from a packet to make our soup! We can accommodate most special diets and as we shop daily, can always find a meal to suit. The restaurant is large and tables are of a comfortable height for wheelchair users. Breakfast is one of our strongest points with an assortment of classic british favourites, designed to set you up nicely for a day in Blackpool. Our lounge bar is fully licensed with a Golf Theme, it is abundantly stocked with one off memorabilia and signed photographs but it is not overbearing if you are not a sporting fan. We have a small car park to the rear, on road parking is available to the front of the hotel. The hotel is ramped to the front AND rear. We also have a large patio style seating area at the front of the hotel which has recently been extended to make it more accessible for wheelchair users. All rooms have televisions with freeview and tea and coffee making facilities.

The hotel is ramped both to the front and rear of the hotel (car park). A guest lift accesses all floors. 9 guest rooms are fully accessible to wheelchair users, however if the chair is extended to the front or significantly larger than standard please call us directly so we can run through the options available, we often find that a quick chat can eliminate most of the anxiety that often accompanies a stay away from home. We can arrange to hire hoists, mobility scooters, electric chairs from a local supplier and also have shower chairs and toilet frames available on request at no additional cost. The dinning room and bar are fully accessible and we do have a accessible public toilet. The front door is electronic and opens automaticaly to exit the hotel however a key entry system operates the door from the outside.
