Great as a wedding venue but not so good for an overnight stay

We stayed at Mitton Hall to celebrate a wedding anniversary as we married there 11 years ago. We chose to stay in the Kings Suite as we did on our wedding night but have to say the sleep quality was poor as you could hear staff walking about during the night in the main hall. Bit disappointed

Was really looking forward to a night away from our children, the first in six years. Arrived at Mitton hall around four o'clock, and was given the queen suite which we had booked. Room was cold and felt like it needed a good clean. Shower didn't work so had to have a bath. I was up most of the night with the light shining through under the door from the corridor and noise of people walking past. Didn't like where the room was situated and felt I couldn't relax.

Cold room

Overall a decent stay as we attended a family christening at the hotel. Service and staff were great, but we had one issue, the bedroom was extremely cold with the heating not working properly in both the bedroom and bathroom.

Lovely Hotel but.....

We stayed at Mitton Hall as we were there for a wedding reception. We were impressed by the hotel itself but a bit disappointed when we found that our room was not at all in keeping with the rest of the hotel - it was very modern which did not fit in with the Tudor / oak-beamed décor in the main part of the hotel. Unbelievably excellent!

We were returning for our year anniversary, after having our wedding at Mitton Hall. We were treated like King and Queen on our wedding day, and naturally we imagined it wouldn't be quite the same this time around. How wrong could we be!

Very enjoyable

We were wowed by the medieaval appeal of the main hall upon entering, the whole look of the hotel was very appealing. Service and staff interaction were exceptional and very friendly and the room we stayed in-the Mitton Suite -was very comfortable and spacious. And all within minutes of some wonderful English countryside. Our only minor complaint would be the droning hum that we awoke to on Sunday morning which we assumed was coming from the Kitchens. nice hotel, impressive on first sight but bedroom a bit tired and basic, lovely breakfast

impressive external appearance and entrance hall. Dining room is lovely and food was good (we only had breakfast there). Room was freezing because the window was open and radiator turned off - took 15 minutes for the radiator to work, after we complained. No telephones in the room so had to go downstaris to complain, sockets/layout are poorly thought out. Read more

dissappointed at having to pay for menu tasting when we have our wedding booked there for next year. would have been nice to have received an upgraded room also. we had a lovely stay though despite this and would recommend the hotel to friends and family Read more

Response

Thank you for your feedback.

Unfortunately we were fully booked on this occasion and we do try to offer an upgrade where possible on special occasions. With regards to paying for the wedding tasting, this is normal procedure, as it is at many of our competitors.

I have also passed on your concerns to the wedding co-ordinator.

Olde Worlde Country House Hotel Charm at it's Best.

We stayed just one night to attend a wine tasting in Clitheroe, staying in the Queens Suite. The room was clean(although a new carpet would not go amiss!)with a massive but somewhat creaky bed.En suite facilities excellent with walk in shower and large old style bath, which my wife loved. The main entrance Hall is magnificent with oak panelling and a roaring fire(November).Bar facilities excellent and staff friendly and helpful.Grounds are beautiful and views of the Ribble Valley are stunning. Very Pleasant staff, great room shame about the little problems

Arrived and was greeted with a friendly smile was shown to room (Mitton Suite)which I assume was an upgrade so pleasantly surprised however noted that there was water dripping from top of window down on to window seat cushion which probably explained a slight musty smell in the room? Facilities were excellent although the bathroom was a little dark. Dinner was excellent, breakfast was again excellent and my only other note was that the smell of the kitchen outside the room was unpleasant. Read more

Lovely country hotel with fantastic views and relaxing atmosphere. It was a lovely treat!

We stayed for 2 nights with another couple for a short break away. Nearby Whalley was lovely for a nosey around the shops, as was Clitheroe. There is lots of places to choose for dining experience, not least Mitton Hall itself for lunch on the terrace.
We would all definately go again as the decor, rooms and views were lovely. Read more

Would love an excuse to go back.

We came for our friends Wedding and both loved everything about both the occasion and the venue. You couldn't want anything more. The staff are really friendly and helpful, the berooms compact but beautifully done with walk in showers and very comfy beds and the breakfast was amazing (I'm told all the food is). The outside terrace at the back was fantastic, especially seeing as it was the hotest day of the year so far. Top marks all round. Read more

Description

It was passion that drove us to lovingly restore this magnificent 15th century manor house and to expose its true beauty. Our journey started and ended by returning to where it all began those centuries ago, Mitton Hall had to become a home again, a place that looks and feels like it belongs to somebody. The stunning interior design is perfectly complimented by the historical and architectural features that this magnificent property boasts, creating a truly unique ambience and atmosphere. We offer 18 guest bedrooms varying in size, shape and style. The bathrooms are all state of the art without being too over the top, cold and impractical and they’re full of all the goodies that you have come to expect. As difficult to describe as it is to forget this part chic, boutique luxury hotel is the perfect escape and hideaway. Offering somewhere to relax and unwind and to stimulate the taste buds as well as indulge the senses our Brasserie and Deli menus are a must for all visitors. The bar at Mitton is something of a work of art in itself, a veritable temple to the incredibly diverse range of product and extract of the grape, grain and bean. Preposterously well stocked and open from the crack of dawn to the dead of night. Our wines have once again been chosen for us by D. Byrne & Co. of Clitheroe. The Brasserie menu served in the Dining Rooms offers something altogether more substantial. The freshest ingredients, locally sourced wherever possible, are treated with great flair, respect and imagination by Head Chef Mark Gaukroger and his hard-working team. A truly bespoke conference venue awaits you at the newly refurbished Mitton Hall as we allow you to conduct business in the most exceptional of surroundings. With 5 function suites all boasting natural daylight and a full range of audio visual equipment available, we provide facilities suitable for an intimate interview or a seminar for 200 delegates.

Unfortunately due to the building being Grade II* Listed, we have been unable to provide disabled access via a lift or stair lift to any of the bedrooms or upstairs. The whole ground floor however does have ramp access to all areas and disabled toilet facilities.
