A perfect place for a perfect break

My wife and I stayed in the Curlew room and couldn't have been happier For our four night stay. Beautiful location with views over to Holy Island and the causeway. Easy access to the Northumbria coastal path and for the Holy Island pathway (but please pay attention to the tide times when contemplating either a walk or a drive to/fro). The room was very comfortable, excellent bed and amenities. Our hosts, Gill and Walter, couldn't have been more warm and friendly. Read more

Response

We were sorry to read the comments about the breakfast. We source the fresh dry cured bacon, sausages and black pudding from the local butcher and the eggs are from our own free range hens and very fresh to your plate. Most people tell us how much they enjoy everything .Perhaps if you had mentioned it when asked if your breakfast was satisfactory we might have been able to offer you an alternative.

Northumberland - best B&B ever!

A couple of nights away to celebrate my partners 50th birthday - the weather may not have been brilliant but the accommodation made up for that. Beautiful location, excellent food, well looked after.

My husband and I were walking St Cuthbert's Way and Fenham Farm was our fourth B and B on the route. It's a wee bit off the beaten track but a beautiful location, an excellent farm steading development, and we were made to feel most welcome. Nothing was too much bother to our hosts. Eco-friendly haven

A one-night stay - wish it had been longer! The hosts were welcoming and exceedingly helpful and accommodating - even providing a gluten-free cake in the room and gluten-free breakfast. Excellent B&B. Definitely worth a stay!

We stayed one night at Fenham Farm when attending a nearby wedding at Middleton Hall.

The accommodation was easy enough to find. The signage from the A1 was very good.

Upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room when being shown around by the owner. The photos on the website look good but it is much better in person.

We had a great room with a sea view. All the little touches were present. Tea, coffee, biscuits and two wonderful slices of chocolate fudge! Read more

Perfect place for a relaxing holiday.

Me and my husband wanted to visit The Holy Island, Lindisfarne. Fenham Farm is not situated on the island, but has a beautiful view to it. We were looking for some peace and quiet and we found it. We spent two days on Lindisfarne, but we also visited Berwick-upon-Tweed and Bamburgh Castle. The weather was really beautiful and we enjoyed the sunset from farm. The first evening we had a lovely meal at "The Barn at Beal". We highly recommend "Fenham Farm B&B". We hope to return some day! Read more

A sparkling haven at the end of a tiring day.

I arrived at Fenham Farm much before my ETA, at about 2.30. I noticed later that the check-in time was from 3.30, but nothing was said about this, and the welcome was warm and friendly. My room, more like a self-contained apartment, was remarkable in its attention to detail and in the top quality of its decoration and furnishings. I was taken to and brought back from the local pub for my evening meal, with offers to pay refused. The breakfast (nice and early) and its presentation were superb. Read more

A delightful and relaxing stay

The four of us stayed two nights at Fenham Farm B&B, just across the water from the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, and it was a most delightful and enjoyable time. The welcome was friendly and efficient; the rooms were well appointed and very comfortable, and the beds were 'super king size' and 'king size' and just right for a good nights sleep. The rooms have under floor heating, so it was important to turn these down before retiring for the night. Breakfast was excellent! Read more

Owners gave a friendly welcome to a clean and comfortable B & B with an excellent breakfast

We arrived on a Friday evening at the beginning of September and were shown to our room which was ideal for a family of four. The owners recommended the Lindisfarne Inn nearby on the main Road (A1) as a good place for a family evening meal, and having taken their advice we were not disappointed. Impeccable!

This was our second visit to Fenham Farm and won't be our last. It is in an ideal spot to visit the local attractions of Bamburgh Castle, Seahouses,Farne Islands and of course Holy Island - In fact you could walk there and back from Fenham Farm (tides permitting). There are also beautiful views of Holy Island from the Farm .
As always, Gill and Walter were wonderful hosts: friendly, unfussy and helpful. Read more

Fabulous Northumberland break

We wanted a get away from it all break and thats exactly what we got.

The location is excellent, easily reached from the A1, close to Berwick for town facilities but in the country near the sea for peace and quiet. All in all a lovely, relaxing break.

Absolutely everything. The quality of the accommodation was very high and the location was very close to the main road but far enough away that you felt secluded.

Better than a lot of 3 and 4 star hotels I've stayed in

I wanted reasonably priced accommodation for an overnight stay to attend a local golf tournament as I did not want to travel back and forth to Newcastle. Not only did I get a reasonable price; I also got far more than I expected. The accommodation was almost of luuuluxury quality luxurylulu Read more

A tranquil setting with the scope to explore Northumberland.

Friendly greeting on arrival, rooms very clean and spacious, tranquil setting in country side but close enough to numerous walks inland or coastal, with views of holy island and causeway. Read more

A fantastic B&B that wont disappoint.

This B&B is in a quiet secluded location - we saw lots of wildlife nearby including a deer. A recent barn conversion the accommodation is to a very high standard - the nicest we have ever stayed in. Very comfortable and clean with lots of nice touches that you would not ordinarily expect from a B&B, including home made cakes being provided daily. Read more

Very clean, cozy and comfortable

As a group of 5, we took two of the rooms available. It was convenient to drive to Berwick-upon-Tweed for dinner and to Holy Island to see the sights.

The rooms were lovely - they have just been renovated so everything is brand new. They were tastefully decorated and we could see the ocean out of our window if we looked to the side. The bathrooms were modern with walk in showers and again, everything was shiny and new. Breakfast was tasty, with an option of fresh eggs right from the farm. Read more

You'll need to drive a long farm road to get there. The area looks very rustic, so we were wondering what kind of place we would find, but we were very pleased.

Description

Fenham Farm is located on the coast, overlooking Holy Island in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. For the birdwatcher and lover of nature, this area provides a unique opportunity to see and get close to some of the country’s rarest animals. In the autumn months, the sand flats that are exposed at low tide become a huge feeding ground for geese and waders from around the world. Converting the smiddy, cow byre and cartshed at Fenham has created 5 spacious en-suite rooms that are independent of the farmhouse and have individual front doors so your space is your own. You will enjoy modern comfort all round and will be kept warm and cosy by underfloor heating, even on the chilliest of days. All the units are decorated to an extremely high standard and boast feather down duvets and pillows and Egyptian cotton sheets. Breakfasts are cooked to order using local products wherever possible and fresh eggs from our own hens and are served in the dining room which is part of the farmhouse. Packed lunches can also be provided but must be pre-ordered. Evening meals are available at many local public houses and restaurants. We can provide a lift service for cyclists and walkers to the nearest ones. Northumberland is a land of contrasts, from the sandy beaches and rugged cliffs of the coast to the high wilderness of the Cheviot Hills, it is truly a region with something for everyone. For a more cosmopolitan day out with more shops, galleries and culture, take a trip to either Edinburgh or the bustling city of Newcastle upon Tyne – all around an hour away.
