One night stay to visit relative

We were disappointed with our room. As we have been disappointed with other accommodation over the years we now ask for a twin room so we have more space, however this room was tiny and only just got the beds in. The rest of our stay was excellent but we couldn't have stayed more than 1 night in that room. Read more

Good standard accommodation and very good breakfast choices

I needed a one-night base near to the bus station, so this was ideal. The accommodation was satisfactory - although the bathroom was not en-suite, I did have exclusive use of it (though I suspect the basin is leaking). It would have been good to have had instructions for the television: it took me 15 minutes to achieve a station! But breakfast was fresh and good. Read more

A nice B&B, with some improvements necessary

Gill was very welcoming, accommodating and kind throughout our short stay. The room was perfectly clean and breakfast was on time and very nice. Unfortunately, however, the plumbing is very loud (in our room, Alnwick, at least) which woke us up very early. Read more

The plumbing is terribly loud. When a tap is on in the kitchen, you can here it very clearly upstairs in the bedroom. The radiators, too, are incredibly loud - and I'm a heavy sleeper.

A good local B&B to use whilst visiting friends.

The B&B was used as a base to sleep whilst visiting friends close by. As such, I left the B&B straight after breakfast, returning late evening to sleep. Hosts were very friendly. Room was spacious, clean and overall very good. Car parking was perfect as it was right outside and we were given a permit to park for the duration. Excellent in Town position

For those of us who have the benefit of Free Bus Travel, this B&B is ideal. Within one minutes walk of the Bus Station, for buses all over the North East. Just park up, stay and travel here and there the next day or days. Also I would suggest ideal to get to by bus if you are thinking of doing a tour by local buses using your Government sponsored passes. Read more

Great facilities, delicious breakfast - Overall, great!

We were visiting friends in Morpeth so booked a B&B close to their home - Owners were really friendly and a key was provided for both the room and for the external door. Everything was explained thoroughly, which proved useful as our evening out didn't end until quite late on and we knew not to let the doors slam on our way back in at 1:30am (they had heavy springs to satisfy fire regulations.) Breakfast at 9am was very tasty/pleasant. Read more

Response

We appreciate all comments. However, we would like to point out that unfortunately Morpeth has not yet been switched on to receive digital TV. Once this is available all TV's will have freeview. This is something out of our control.

A beautiful, clean and friendly place to stay.

We stayed for 2 nights under sad circumstances, to attend my fathers funeral. Steve and Julie were very welcoming and would take our 6 month old daughter off our hands to let us eat our breakfast which was wonderful. Giving residents the choice of time for breakfast meant that the food was freshly made and therefore hot and the dining room not crowded, in fact both mornings we were alone in the dining room. The room was huge and very comfortable. Will definately use them again! Read more

Disappointing

there was nobody there when we arrived (before 7pm) and we had difficulty getting hold of them. We had to wait around for 15-20 minutes. Breakfast was continental only. We did not feel welcomed into a family home as we have with most other B&B establishments. Room refreshment facilities were limited, the shower was second rate and the bathroom cramped. We felt it did not really merit 4 stars. Read more

Response

This booking was made on line. We therefore telephoned the guest to inform him that on this occasion we could only offer a continental breakfast, which he accepted. We do accept that we were delayed and they did have a 10 minute wait for which we apologised profusely and they were given a discount for their inconvenience. Prior to entering our home he mentioned that he may put a poor review on line, which of course dampened any good will we had.

Response

All comments are welcome. Firstly, this lady arrived 2 hours prior to check in time without prior arrangement. She walked in the house without introducing herself and wheeled a dirty suitcase along the carpet. The heating comes on an hour before guests check in or sooner if the weather is particularly cold. She gave me the impression she was not staying so therefore I did not override the heating system. The chocolates are from Manzils, they give us a box as advertising for themselves.

The facilities provided by this B&B are at least at the standard you would expect of an English B&B but in addition the hosts are very friendly and informative but without been intrusive. Description

Julie and Steve Lum have recently acquired 6 Dacre Street in Morpeth, and have transformed the accommodation into a place that you want to stay in - a home from home. Castle View is a quiet, family run B&B based in Morpeth, Northumberland, in the heart of North East England. A notch up from the typical rural B&B, Castle View combines the advantages of being located just off the main A1, close to Newcastle with beauty and splendour of Northumberland’s breathtaking scenery on our doorstep. The Local Area Our bed & breakfast is ideally suited for use as a base to explore and discover the many attractions of Northumberland. We are in easy driving distance of Warkworth, Chillingham, Bamburgh castles, Hadrian’s Wall and of course the famous Alnwick castle and gardens. Alternatively our accommodation would suit the business traveller who is visiting the area. We offer affordable, discrete accommodation including business facilities. Newcastle and the Metro Centre are only 30 minutes from Castle View by car. We are in walking distance from the local bus & train station. For Bank Holiday Weekends there is a minimum stay of 2 nights. If you are planning on exploring the North East this season, then make Castle View your home.
