Good value overall in a pricy area

We stayed here for three nights. It was about a ten minute walk to the city, which we did several times. The house was very quiet at night and we were able to get some good sleep while here. The breakfasts were also good.
Compared to other bed and breakfasts we stayed at, we had very little interaction with others staying here or with the owners. It would have been a more fun experience if we had been able to meet more people here and get tips on travelling and seeing things in the area. Read more

Great B&B with lovely rooms. Short walk from the city centre. Good breakfast with plenty of choice.

I stayed at Astor House for two nights as part of a group of six. We rented three rooms and all were really lovely. The whole place was very clean and tidy and all came with a good selection of teas, coffees, hot chocolate, etc. One room was on the top floor with amazing views over Bath. Breakfast was nice with a good selection of hot and cold foods.

welcoming and friendly. good start to our Christmas market visit

Friendly and helpful welcome, with information about transport and eating places. Loved having a tea pot in the room. much better than trying to brew in a mug. Also having a microwave, with cutlery and crockery at the disposal of the guests was such a good idea, as there was at least one evening when we were unable to get into a restaurant for a meal,(due to the Christmas market) and bought a ready meal from Sainsburies, which we ate in the comfort of our room. Very friendly and comfortable familt run B&B which is 15 minutesfrom the heart of Bath

A short break to celebrate my partners birthday in the beautiful city of Bath. We wanted a family room in a comfortable B&B which was in easy walking distance and Astor House fitted the bill very well. We visited the Roman Baths, the Royal Crescent and a few Museums. The city is a Georgian delight which was very interesting to explore. Although eating out was expensive and we had to watch the pennies the choice was second to none. Two days was not enough so we must visit again. Read more

Peaceful Retreat in Homey Comfort Make First Stay in Bath a Sheer Joy!

For hitting Astor House site unseen, I have to say it was THE bargain of our UK trip. the price was reasonable, the home much more beautiful than expected. I felt like I was living in a Jane Austin novel- bathstone and all. Our hostess gave us all the attention we needed, but had a healthy respect for privacy- a tricky balance to be sure. The food was plentiful and we were a short drive from the main center. Great recommendations of local restaurants and stores also spot on. Read more

A lovely period house badly in need of some t.l.c

We stayed 3nights at the astor, a lovely period house set up on a hill with good views across Bath below.
The welcome wasn't particularly warm but it was expected, having read previous reviews.
The room was tired and old-fashioned and like the rest of the house badly in need of a facelift although it did have great views over Bath.

Not a four star guest house

Room adequate but some of the fittings a bit shabby. Hair ball and crumbs in room on arrival - therefore cleanliness not up to standard. No welcome on arrival which was explained and understandable however no attempt was made by staff to introduce themselves to me at any stage thereafter. A very unfriendly and frankly unprofessional attitude. Read more

a very pleasant and quiet stay.

I stayed with my sister in one of the twin rooms at the very top of the house with lovely veiws out over bath. We stayed for 5 days there and had very good night's sleep each night and more often than not we had a very peaceful time there. The staff was friendly on arrival, and, even though we did not see them much, when we were down for breakfast they were very eager to make us happy. Does anyone actually live in Astor House? I don't think so!

On first seeing Astor House it looks really lovely, tucked away from the city centre. Well looked after and well presented as you go into the entrance hall and landings. I was with my 28year old daughter for a weekend break, as we entered our twin room on second floor, that also was good, initially. Then we both noticed all the mould on the seal inside & outside of the shower cubicle, old wallpaper pealing, 2 different carpets in the ensuite. Water stains from roof as you lay in bed, not nice. Nice but not really 4 Star

The rooms are spacious, clean and well decorated. The breakfast was lovely and the staff seem nice. The only problem was the bathroom. Unfortunatley a massive problem. The skirting was chipped and rotting next to the shower cubicle. The ceiling had damp spots on it. The plastic sink had a hole in it and the only apparent repair was to put a bath mat on a shelf under the sink! The final horror was the shower which stopped working after one person had a shower.
