Lovely location and garden. The large interior was matched by the warm welcome given by the new tenants of the Anchor. We enjoyed chatting to them as well as the great fire and delicious food. Read more

Lovely pub, superb food, excellent B&B and stunning views made this a special break.

A very enjoyable couple of days. A really lovely pub, such friendly and helpful owners, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was large, warm, big comfortable bed, ensuite shower and spa bath.... a real treat. Full English breakfast was super, hot plates and very tasty. Evening meals from the bar menu were a real treat. A huge plateful of food every time..... well cooked and very tasty. Would recommend this place to all..... families, singles and couples. Find a warm welcome in beautiful Exmoor

The Anchor was delightfully situated to visit family in Exebridge and Dulverton; we slept well in rural tranquility. The meals were delicious and generous and the staff quietly efficient and friendly. Read more

Woodland, river garden and free range Chickens..

My mother and I had a lovely peaceful break at the Anchor Inn for 5 days. The location is perfect with woodland, lakes, rivers and quaint hamlets all around. The building is old and full of lovely features. The Hosts, John and Anne, could not be more helpful or hospitable...nothing is too much trouble, including my dietary requirements being Celiac and lactose intolerant. They have a pen of gorgeous chickens who adorn the grounds and often provide eggs for brekkie! Read more

A wonderful location and friendly staff. Sitting beside the river having a pre dinner drink was very enjoyable and so too was the lemon posset pudding that my wife had.

Could have been better

We were shown to our room by the proprietor who saw that it was lacking in towels and pillowcases. She went to get these and put the pillowcases on, brought one towel and said she would bring another but it never arrived. We put the light on in the shower room on retiring which switched the fan on, but the fan didn't switch off. My husband had to get out of bed, get dressed and go to find someone but by the time they arrived I had found a switch just below the ceiling (continued below)... Read more

Lovely break- the owners couldn't do enough to be helpful, & make us feel comfortable and welcome

2 night stay at The Anchor Inn, we explored local Exmoor & had a very relaxing time. As a family with a young child it was good to be able to use the pub for evening food which was served from 5.30- excellent local produce & lots to choose from. Description

The Anchor Inn is a rural riverside pub and inn with six letting bedrooms overlooking beautiful surroundings shaped by the river Exe. Exebridge is situated on the southern tip of Exmoor near the village of Dulverton. The lower bar at the front of the inn once entertained the celebrated English novelist R.D. Blackmore in the 19th century and features in his classic Lorna Doone. Overlooking the riverside garden is our upper bar and dining room; serving home made food which takes advantage of Somerset and Devonshire's excellent local produce. Meals are freshly prepared to order and cooked over charcoal to give extra flavour. We also welcome well-behaved dogs. We have six letting bedrooms available to cater for a variety of requirements, from families to individuals. All stays include a cooked Exmoor breakfast.
