The Lord Poulett Arms is an elegant, privately owned, 17th Century thatched Inn, located in one of the most beautiful villages in the West Country.
It can be found at the centre of the conservation village of Hinton St George in stunning rolling, typically English countryside on the borders of Somerset, Devon & Dorset.
The Lord Poulett Arms has won numerous awards during our years of ownership including “Gastro Pub of the Year” from the Good Hotel Guide, & “National Dining Pub of the Year” in the Good Pub Guide & received superb reviews from national newspapers incl 9/10 for food & 9/10 service from The Sunday Times & “Best Sunday Lunch in the West Country” from The Observer.
The Inn is furnished with taste & much of the furniture is antique.
We pride ourself on our food at The Lord Poulett & have been awarded the Good Pub Guide “Somerset Dining Pub of the Year” in 2009, 2012, 2014, 2015 & 2016.
We hope the Inn has an appeal all year round, it has two gardens; one a French inspired knot garden with Wisteria covered pergola & boules piste & the other a typically English wild garden full of mistletoe covered apple tree’s, hammocks, love seats & even a Five’s Wall (the forerunner to squash).
The garden was named one of the best in the country for dining alfresco by Gardeners World & one of the 5 best summer pubs by The Times.
However The Lord Poulett is also very cosy in winter, a real fire can be seen from every table & we we're named one of the UK's cosiest hotels by The Telegraph.
The Lord Poulett is our idea of what a perfect country pub should be, we hope you'll agree.
We have disabled access to the ground-floor restaurant & bar via our rear entrance.
