My wife and I stayed 2 nights as we were guests at a friends wedding. Tanya and Rob(?) were excellent hosts and the breakfast was fantastic. They gave us directions and advice on good places to eat in town and offered cold remedies to my wife when she became poorly during our stay. Read more

We stayed here for one night as we were going on a steam train ride in Shepton Mallett and a Birthday surprise! We arrived late afternoon and was greeted very warmly by the owner. When she showed us to our rooms we all went wow as they were amazing! The beds were comfy and the decor was superb. The owners even arranged the flowers in the birthday girls room. We had the most amazing tasty breakfast and we all left with full bellies. They even let us bring our own champagne and made a bucks fizz. Read more

We stayed for just one night after a days shopping in Bath. It took us about 20mins to drive from Bath and was worth the trip. The house and rooms are beautifully decorated and the owners are friendly and welcoming. Breakfast the following morning was excellent and we'd certainly stay again when we are next in the area and would recommend Longbridge House to all our friends. Read more

Thank you for your kind review, we are very glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We were a little surprised by the comments about the lack of a fixed shower as the description/pictures of the Monmouth room ensuite show that it comes with a roll top bath & not a shower. We do however supply a shower attachment for the convenience of our guests to enable them to rinse their hair. We have rooms with showers so should you wish to stay with us again we would gladly offer you one of these rooms.
A very nice base for exploring the area. Read more

If you're looking for a relaxed and friendly retreat with a touch of luxury in an historic setting - somewhere where you can take a deep breath and unwind following a day out exploring the Somerset and the Mendip Hills - then the historic grade II listed Longbridge House, is the B&B for you. With parts dating back to the 14th Century the house is best known for being where the Duke of Monmouth stayed before and after the Battle of Sedgemoor in 1685, before he was killed by Hanging Judge Jeffries in the Bloody Assizes. The house is also locally famous for being where John Lewis (of John Lewis Partnership fame) lived for much of his childhood alongside a very successful local and international business man John Collett. In more recent years the house has been owned by the Bishop of London who performed the wedding ceremony of William and Kate. Chill out after your journey, enjoy the homemade cake in your bedroom, the Monmouth Room, with a pot of tea or cafetiere of coffee. Or relax outside watching the birds on the birdfeeder, our own chickens scratching around & plan your stay using our books and maps. We have 3 rooms available each with king-size beds; the Monmouth Room, the Bishops Room and the Collett Room. The Monmouth room has an en-suite bathroom with a roll top bath and the Bishops and Collett Room have en-suite shower rooms. All our rooms have all been individually designed to ensure you have a very relaxing and comfortable stay. Breakfasts are a relaxed affair, starting at 8.00 for the earlier riser and available till 9.30 if you want a lie in. Have breakfast in our kitchen where you can watch everything be prepared on our gorgeous red AGA, or you may even want to have your full English in our courtyard should the sun make an appearance. The choice is yours!
