Arrived to a friendly greeting and shown to our lovely room. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was stunning- an interesting menu which was all realised perfectly. All the staff we met were genuinely friendly and chatty, without being at all intrusive.
The bed was very comfortable, all was quiet and we slept like parents who has not had a night off for 2 years!

Truly enjoyable from the moment we walked in. We had a small dog with us and for a nominal fee had our dog with us and she was even treated to a biscuit. We felt at home - friendly staff, hospitable, resourceful by giving us brochures and handouts when the host asked us politely what our plans were. Very good meal - gourmet - served by professional and courteous staff. Very inviting atmosphere, clean, quaint and totally 100% in every way. Very enjoyable; truly a highlight of our UK adventures. I picked the Prince Leopold as it was reasonably close to where I was working and I know the Wylye valley to be a beautiful area. The web site stood out and persuaded me to try the place and I am glad I did. The owners obviously work hard to please both the locals and irregulars and it made for a really enjoyable evening. We had a most pleasurable one night stay on route to Bath. The staff were very welcoming and after a couple of pre dinner drinks in the charming riverside garden we enjoyed an excellent meal. Needed a bed for the night between meetings, and this was ideally located for me and a colleague. What a find! The location was tucked out of the way, but great for our needs, and so beautiful. We had dinner by a stream and watched the trout, even fed them some chips, which they loved. Very quiet, slept well. Read more

We had a lovely stay at the Leopold Inn. It was in a beautiful area and handy for Longleat. We had dinner in the restaurant which had great views and the food was fantastic. We enjoyed the ambiance of the hotel and particularly the friendliness of the staff. The bedrooms, however, were small and we were glad that we opted for seperate rooms as otherwise we would have been falling over each other. My bathroom shower did not operate properly and while, I was able to use it, after some adjustment, it was quite inconvenient. Also my partner's TV did not work initially but was put right. Read more
We enjoyed having Mr Waldie to stay. We have done our best refurbishing the rooms and believe we have reached a high standard. The bathrooms in some cases are small and certainly the one in Mr Waldie's room is old. By the end of today the shower will be new! The price of our rooms acknowledges these small deficiencies. Regerattably, there is a limit to what we can do in such an old Victorian building on a limited budget.
We were looking for a place that had good access to Bath, Salisbury, Stonehenge & Andover, & that didn't cost a fortune. The Leopold was it; & the best part was the food service at the Inn downstairs. Read more

Thank you for the lovely review. We were aware that the skip did not enhance the view! I am happy to say that the work is nearly complete and the skip is now gone. The Prince Leopold is a Victorian Public house built in the heart of the Wylye Valley in 1878. It was named after Queen Victoria's youngest son, who discovered and fell in love with the area after graduating from Oxford in 1875. The bar area has been panelled as it might have been when originally built and there are pictures and artefacts relating to the period throughout the room. We offer a selection of locally brewed ales at the bar as well as an extensive wine list. Adjacent to the bar is a Victorian style 'snug' complete with leather sofas, log fire, books, newspapers and games. The ideal room to relax in. The restaurant looks out over the River Wylye and surrounding watermeadows. It will comfortably seat 60 people. Alternatively, guests can chose to eat in one of the smaller pub dining rooms. We offer an a la carte menu which changes daily depending on what is fresh and seasonal, a wide selection of fish dishes, and of course the more traditional pub classics. The river runs through the garden where guests can relax and simply enjoy the view or feed the ducks and fish! For younger visitors there is a play park nearby in the village. The bedrooms are also newly refurbished. All are ensuite and have freeview TV, wifi access, tea and coffee making facilities and hairdryers. Warminster lies to the south west of Salisbury Plain, beneath the chalk downland with its abundant flora and fauna, and at the head of one of Britain's best kept secrets - 'The Wylye Valley' with its attractive villages and historic landscape, so this is an ideal location for walkers with many interesting walks of various lengths in the immediate vicinity. For those who prefer to see the countryside 'seated' -The White Horse Trekking Centre is less than 2 miles away. If it's culture you seek then the historic towns of Salisbury (20 mins) and Bath (40 mins) are both nearby.
