Chatton is located 4 miles from the small town of Wooler to the west and 10 miles from the Northumberland coastline with easy access to the A1. The countryside and coast in this area are stunning. In the village is the highly rated Percy Arms Inn serving excellent food and real ales and next to that is the village shop. There are many good standard restaurants and pubs within easy access. Chatton has its own trout fishery with public access, a small art gallery and The Church of the Holy Cross.
The cottage is the perfect base from which to explore. The famous and ‘most haunted’ Chillingham Castle is only one mile away and next to this are the white Chillingham Cattle who are unique in the world as the they are the only pure-bred breed in existence. Nearby are the castles of Alnwick (of Harry Potter fame), Bamburgh, Dunstanburgh, Ford and Etal and Cragside House. The beaches are superb. Bamburgh Castle looks over a long, wide sandy beach to the Farne Islands and in the other direction is the Holy Island of Lindisfarne. Walks and cycle routes are numerous such as St Cuthbert’s Way from Holy Island.
The cottage has oil-fired central heating and a log burning stove in the main room and a basket of logs is included. Enjoy the HD TV with DVD recorder or unlimited free wi-fi. The kitchen has an electric oven, induction hob, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer, microwave, dishwasher, toaster and all the utensils needed.
The large bedroom with king-size bed is on the ground floor with a family bathroom and mixer shower. There is a quiet room to enjoy a book or music. Up the stairs are two bedrooms with single beds and an additional bathroom with bath. At the rear is a patio area with seating and up a flight of steps is the main garden with rockery, lawn area and second patio with table and chairs for four. Enjoy the views across the valley whilst having a barbeque. Local hens will regularly pop in for a chat. There is secure bike storage for up to four bikes.
