Arduthie House Information

Description

Arduthie House is a magnificent 5-bedroom Victorian house in the heart of the beautiful coastal town of Stonehaven with its wonderful attractions such as Dunnottar Castle, the War Memorial, the Tolbooth, the Harbour and seafront promenade with places to eat and play, and a scenic and challenging golf course to the north of the town. Set back from the road (Ann Street) Arduthie House offers large and comfortable rooms for the discerning traveller. We have 2 double rooms, 2 twin rooms, and a family room (with 2 double beds sleeping 2 adults and 2 children) all with en-suite facilities. On the first floor there is a wonderful guest lounge where guests can relax and read or chat to fellow travellers or play guitar (2 available) or play games (supplied) and generally unwind. Each day begins in the spacious and bright dining room where guests can enjoy a sumptuous breakfast of juices and cereals, tea, coffee, and toast plus a ‘Full Scottish’ (bacon, egg, sausage, black pudding, mushrooms, tomato, hash brown, beans - not for the faint hearted), or Continental (a selection of hams, cheeses, and fruits with a choice of warm breads), or Eggs 'Arduthie' (oak-smoked pancetta with poached egg, spinach and a hollandaise sauce served on a toasted muffin). Arduthie House is perfectly located close to the town square where guests can walk to the sea in 2-3 minutes and either turn right for the harbour or turn left for the recreation ground and the open air swimming pool, both of which are an 8-10 minute walk from the house. From the house the more adventurous guests can make their way up the Black Hill via the Harbour to the War Memorial and then continue along the cliffs to Dunnottar Castle - a walk of about 40 minutes. Stonehaven also offers easy access to Aberdeen (Duthie Park Winter Gardens, Art Gallery, Museums, and plenty of restaurants and shopping opportunities), and to Royal Deeside, with its castles and distilleries, and further on to the Cairngorms.

Accessibility

Guests with mobility issues or difficulties should be aware that entry to Arduthie House from the pavement is up two short flights of stairs and an upward-sloping path. Though our internal stairs are wide and easy to climb, it should also be noted that, unfortunately, none of our bedrooms are on the ground floor.

Directions

  • Road from South (1.0 miles)
As you enter Stonehaven from the South, follow the road right passed the BP garage (on the left). Then follow the road round to the left. When you reach the traffic lights, turn left (Evan Street). Continue up this road and turn second right (Ann Street). Arduthie House is set back from the road on the left about 100 metres along Ann Street.
  • Road from North (1.0 miles)
As you enter Stonehaven, cross over the bridge and follow the road round to the left. Very soon the road will fork - take the right fork (Barclay Street) and continue along this road until you see Charles Michie's pharmacist. Turn right immediately before Michie's (Margaret Street). At the top of Margaret Street, turn right. Arduthie House is almost immediately on your left set back from the road.
  • Train from Station (0.75 miles)
As you leave the Station, make your way to the main road (aim for the Station Hotel). The main road is called Arduthie Road. Turn left on this road and follow it all the way down until it bears left. Follow the road to the left (Evan Street) and continue down that road towards the centre of town. Eventually one of the roads on the left is Ann Street. Walk along Ann Street for about 100m and Arduthie House is on the left set back from the road.
