The Old Vicarage Information

Description

The Old Vicarage is a unique award winning guest house located in the picturesque, ancient village of St Clement 1.5 miles from the Cathedral City of Truro. This stylish guest accommodation enjoys stunning views of the beautiful Tresillian River and the wooded banks of the famous Tregothnan Estate beyond. Tregothnan is home to the UKs only tea plantation. Delightful riverside and woodland walks begin through our garden gate. Dating back to the early 1500s the property was renovated in 2012 incorporating the latest environmental and energy efficient technologies. This has resulted in our six guest bedrooms offering comfortable and stylish accommodation in a quiet, virtually traffic free location. Breakfast, using mostly local ingredients is cooked to order in our glass fronted, open plan breakfast room over looking the garden. St Clement is remote enough to be a tranquil idyll away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and yet close to the City of Truro. St Clement is a designated area of outstanding natural beauty, a conservation area and a site of specific scientific interest. Truro is Cornwall’s one and only city. Truro once thrived as a river port and the prosperity of the late 18th and early 19th century can be seen today in the elegant town houses that line the city’s streets. Centre stage is Truro’s impressive gothic revival cathedral that towers over the town and inside are some of the finest examples of Victorian stained glass in the country. In its shadow a warren of back streets are home to dozens of independent traders selling all you need from funky fashions and cool surf wear to locally made bread and Cornish cheeses. With a year long festival programme, weekly food markets, several art galleries and a plethora of fine eateries Truro is a cultural and culinary gem. Don't miss The Eden Project, Cornwall's great gardens, coastal walks, beaches, river boat trips and a diverse range of visitor attractions.
