1692 Wasdale Information

Description

1692 Wasdale is the newest ‘place to stay’ in the Wasdale Valley. Set in its own grounds with an elevated position and spectacular views of the Wasdale valley along the Screes to Scafell Pike and also across the sea to the Isle of Man. The west coast of Cumbria is the quiet part of the Lake District. Within easy reach you will find mountains, lakes, low level walks and a fantastic coastline. Wastwater, England’s deepest lake is in the valley with access to Scafell Pike, Great Gable, Yewbarrow and many more peaks. At 1692 Wasdale we welcome guests as if they were guests in our own home, the only difference being that we live next door! 1692 Wasdale is the perfect place to unwind and refresh, whether you are here for leisure or business. Inside, you will find an exciting blend of ancient buildings and contemporary interiors with high ceilings and exposed stonework alongside underfloor heating, modern bathrooms and exciting decor. Our 6 en-suite rooms, each have a patio - most are west facing, a Nespresso machine, walk-in shower, Super-king size (or 2 twin) beds with crisp white sheets, Egyptian cotton towels and complimentary toiletries. The lounge has a contemporary stove, piano, sofas and chairs to relax in. Help yourself from the well stocked honesty bar. There is a boot room with facilities for wet boots & coats and a hot tub outside. Breakfast is served in the light and airy dining room, in the courtyard on sunny days or as room service! You'll find with a wide choice to delight you, using locally sourced ingredients including eggs from our own hens wherever possible. Couples, individuals on business or pleasure, small groups, wet boots, dogs, muddy bicycles, motorbikes, helicopters, cherished vehicles and more, are all welcome at 1692 Wasdale. There is private on-site parking, an electric car charging point and a cycle wash and lock-up area.

Faith & Steve moved to West Cumbria from Oxfordshire in 2006 with two young children and quickly became part of a lively valley community with involvement in the local schools, Hockey Club and Am Dram society to name but a few! The barns adjoining the farmhouse were in need of care and repurposing so in 2014 we started to renovate them to become the beautiful property that is now 1692 Wasdale! "1692" derives from the date stone which is still visible over our back door. The oldest barn dates back to this time. The west coast is definitely the quieter part of the Lake District, here you will find the great outdoors without the crowds. With mountains, lakes and a fantastic coastline there is something special about each season here. In the Wasdale Valley there’s access to Scafell Pike the highest mountain in England plus so many more here and in the adjacent valleys of Eskdale and Ennerdale. 1692 has direct access to the bridleway network. There are lovely lower level walks and Wastwater, England’s deepest lake nestles in our valley. Cyclists, fell runners, kite surfers, divers, dog owners, horse riders, walkers and climbers of all standards will find plenty to do here.
