Frizenham Farmhouse B&B Information

Description

Set in the rolling hills of N Devon and just 2 miles from the historical Cavalier market town of Great Torrington, Frizenham Farmhouse B&B offers two light and airy double bedrooms with King Size beds and both with en-suites. The house and farm outbuildings have evolved over the centuries dating back to pre Domesday and boasts Devon cob, brick and stone build with cobbled yards and a questioning history. It has together with the large gardens recently been thoughtfully and sympathetically renovated to allow an evocative, pleasing and comfortable rural stay. The bedrooms have a separate guest entrance hall, sitting room and conservatory. The rooms overlook the extensive gardens and there are views over the surrounding farmland. We offer a range of healthy breakfast options, including cereals, yoghurts, our own organic fruit and free range eggs. Evening meals are available on request with our organic vegetables along with local produce, home reared meat and local fresh fish. Wherever possible we cater for special dietary needs and vegan and vegetarian are a speciality. We hope people will enjoy the garden and use the seating available to take in the views.

Frizenham Farmhouse B&B opened summer 2021 after 6 years of renovating the building, landscaping and developing the land with a pond, garden, vegetable garden and managing a small flock of sheep together with free range chickens, quail and the house pet dogs (lurcher and dachshunds). We now offer 2 B&B rooms separated from our own living area with their own entrance, hallway, front room and conservatory. Creating the business has been a labour of love and we have attempted to offer an interesting space that combines a historical Devon Farmhouse together with our passion for art, gardening and our love of producing and cooking good local and home produced food. We are interested in sharing this with people who want to enjoy an experience that allows them to relax and unwind in a hospitable and creative space.

Directions

A car is recommended when staying at the property
  • Road from Great Torrington (2.0 miles)

Both google maps and SatNav will bring you to us. From Great Torrington take the B3227 towards Taddiport, Langtree and Holsworthy (not South Molton). We are approx a mile up the hill after crossing the stone bridge over the River Torridge at Taddiport. You can just about see the yellow house from the road where the driveway on a right hand bend falls away between 2 copper beach trees and stone pillared gate posts. The sign ‘Frizenham’ is at the front of the drive (access not from farm track with sign Frizenham Farm - you have just overshot us).

    - [ ] From the West we are approx a mile up from the stone bridge at Watergate. As the road descends we are on the left (access not from farm track signed Frizenham Farm - driveway a further 20m along hedge).

    - [ ] From the Tarka Trail: we suggest you come off the Tarka Trail at Watergate where the trail crosses the B3227. Cycling from the South, Watergate is approx 2 miles North of The Yard cafe. Or cycling from the North we are approx a mile further on to the Puffing Billy (the old Torrington Station). Turn over the stone bridge and up the hill. Frizenham is approx a mile on the left. See notes above for approaching from the West.
