The Kings Arms Information

Description

The Kings Arms is a recently refurbished traditional country inn situated in the beautiful West Dorset village of Portesham, sitting on the Jurassic coastal road between Weymouth and West Bay and only 10 minutes from Dorchester and Bridport. We offer 3 well luxury en-suite rooms and can accommodate single, double or family occupancy, we are also able to cater for your four legged friends. Each room features luxury bed, en-suite shower room with high level of fittings, stylish bedrooms matching our surroundings, along with smart TV, docking station, tea & coffee and free wifi. Our dining menu reflects our location of where the coast meets the country, with our ingredients being sourced as locally as possible including local farms and growers and all dishes are cooked to order. You can couple this with a warm welcome, relaxed table service and a range of selected wines and cask ales In the colder months warm up with one of our 3 open log fires, and in the warmer months enjoy our wonderful garden complete with stream running through it. In the warmer months we also have our wood-fired pizza oven running in the garden. The Kings Arms is an historic pub in an historic village. Portesham was first mentioned in a charter dating back to 1024 when King Canute granted Porteshamme land to one of his ministers. Admiral Hardy, as in “Kiss Me, Hardy”, of HMS Victory fame, lived in Portesham House, still standing opposite the pub. The Kings Arms itself has been a pub since at least 1900. Inside the Kings Arms, which has recently been refurbished, is traditional bar and dining area, with three open fires creating a cosy, welcoming atmosphere to relax and enjoy a drink and a meal. Food is served every day both at lunchtime and evenings.
