The Bowens Bed & Breakfast Information

Description

Bowens B&B is an Award Winning, family operated guesthouse in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty near Hereford. Guest rooms are located in a courtyard behind our 17th century farmhouse which is set in an acre of garden in the village of Fownhope. All rooms have independent, direct access from our parking area and include en-suite bath/shower, TV, hairdryer, wifi, tea/coffee making facilities and either twin or double beds. Some are accessible to those with mobility issues. We do not accept guest pets and all rooms are dander free. Breakfast is served either in guest rooms, or weather permitting on our covered garden terrace.. All rates include full English breakfast made from local bacon, eggs and sausages, fruit juice, cereals, yoghurt etc. A light Continental option is also available to guests who need to make an early start. Special dietary needs can be accommodated with prior notice. We have numerous outside seating areas where guests can relax in the garden or enjoy a self catered picnic or BBQ. The area offers many opportunities for exploration, including canoeing on the River Wye, Fishing, Cider museums and tours, Hereford Cathedral & Mappa Mundi, Hay Literary Festival, Much Marcle Steam Rally, Royal Three Counties Show, Flavours of Hereford Food Festival and more. We recommend making advance dinner reservations at weekends and are happy to provide recommendations. We have several al fresco dining areas in our garden where guests can enjoy a self catered picnic or BBQ. We provide cutlery, crockery, condiments etc. The local butcher and the village shop sell a range of local produce and include an off-license. All major supermarkets can be found in Hereford, Ross or Ledbury.

Accessibility

Ground floor rooms are accessible to those with impaired mobility, however, we do not have ramps, lifts or handrails.

Directions

  • Road from M5 exit 8 (30.0 miles)
    From the M5 take the M50 exit, exit 8, towards South Wales/Ross. At the end of the M50 take the 2nd exit from the roundabout onto A449 (marked to Ledbury). After approx 2 miles turn left onto B4224 marked Fownhope. Follow the B4224 for approx 5 miles and The Bowens will be on the right as you enter the village (just before the church).
  • Road from Hereford (7.0 miles)
    Leave Hereford city centre via the A438 (towards Ledbury), turn right onto Eign Road B4224, signposted to Fownhope. Follow the B4224 for approx 6 miles to Fownhope. Drive through the village; the Bowens is located at the far end of the village, on the left just after the church.
  • Road from Ledbury (15.0 miles)
    Take the A449 towards Ross-on-Wye. After approx 9 miles turn right onto the B4224 towards Fownhope and follow this road for approx 6 miles. The Bowens is located on the right as you enter the village, just before the church.
