Description

The Cross at Kingussie- an AA Three Red Rosette award winning restaurant with rooms located in the lovely Highland village of Kingussie in the stunning Cairngorm National Park, surrounded by mountains, rivers and lochs. Set in 4 acres of riverside grounds, the Gynack Burn flows through the garden to join the River Spey in the village.An abundance of native trees, flowers & wildlife including roe deer and red squirrels. The Cross combines quality with simplicity, good food & a warm welcome. Built as a water powered tweed mill in the late 1800s, The Cross maintains the character and some of the original features of the mill. Recommended in The Times Travel Nov 2014 as one of '30 great British winter weekend destinations' ,Press & Journal June 2015 "a delightful Highland gem"-Scot on Sunday May 2016- "a striking menu, superlative dining". AA Inspectors'Choice Restaurant with Rooms 2019. AA Breakfast Award 2019. A place to relax & recharge the spirit & enjoy some of the freshest, finest cuisine. Oct 2016 Daily Mail "Best of British" Good Hotel Guide Cesar Award Scottish Hotel of the Year 2017. Good Hotel Guide Editor's Choice 2021 Restaurant with Rooms. Open for lunch (3 courses with choices £30), afternoon tea ( sandwiches/cakes £20 ) and dinner. Advance booking required. In the evening we serve dinner from 7 until 8.30 p.m. and offer two menus - either a 3 course menu with choices at £55 or a tasting menu at £65 with optional wine matching. A.A. Three Red Rosettes awarded for Culinary Excellence. Good Food /Michelin Guides. Champagne is served on the terrace in the summer – and drams in a cosy lounge in winter. The wine list is extensive. Dinners are served by an open fire in the stone walled and wood beamed restaurant. Two comfortable lounges in which to relax and unwind – with many games and books – lots of local information and suggestions for walks and excursions. There are eight comfortable bedrooms, all with large beds and well equipped en-suites.

    Kingussie is located close to the A9 north-south trunk road, 45 minutes from Inverness and just over 2 hours from Edinburgh or Glasgow. From the traffic lights in the centre of Kingussie travel uphill along Ardbroilach Road for 300 metres and turn left down Tweed Mill Brae.
