Breedon Hall Information

Description

Breedon Hall was originally a small farmhouse but enlarged upon in stages starting in the early 17th century and gradually increased in size throughout the 18th century until it reached its present configuration in 1777. The house is now both a family home and a b&b / events venue catering for the smaller wedding or celebrations (nb. we cannot hold ceremonies here). An accredited Alastair Sawday ‘special place to stay’ and award winner, the business continues to receive accolades from its guests and won its Tripadvisor ‘certificate of excellence’ in 2017, 2018 & 2019., and recently Leicestershire Tourist Best B&B It scores 9.7 regularly from guest reviews from Booking.com. It offers a range of bedroom types from enormous through to compact in its 5-room configuration, meaning that there is usually a room to suit most budgets. Situated in Breedon village centre, we are fortunate to have two pubs within 5 minutes walk, The Three Horseshoes, an Alastair Sawday semi 'gastro' pub themed on a rustic French bistro cum antiques shop, and the Hollybush Inn, a traditional British pub serving good, affordable fare with a wide selection of ales from which to choose, as it is a freehold pub. There is the exceptional Breedon Priory Spa within 15 mins walk/5 mins drive next door in Wilson, together with another excelllent pub, The Bulls Head. We are particularly well located, being in the middle of the Midlands, with easy proximity to seven cities: Derby, Nottingham, Leicester, Coventry, Birmingham, Wolverhampton, and Stoke on Trent. Smaller towns are also within an hours drive: Ashby de la Zouch, Burton on Trent, Loughborough, Coalville, Tamworth, Lichfield, Stafford, Ashbourne, Mansfield, Newark and Grantham. Older children (12 years old and up) are welcome; unfortunately, our house is not really suitable for younger children. Supplements are not calculated automatically in the total costs and will have to be paid for separately during or on departure.

Charles & Charlotte began their hospitality business in 2010 with just 1 room in their modest farmhouse. On moving to Breedon Hall, this ‘hobby’ became a mainstream revenue stream by adding a further 4 bedrooms and 3 holiday cottages. Charlotte is cordon bleu trained and has run her own catering business for nearly thirty years. She has never had to advertise! Charles had a first career in the armed forces then switched to construction, finally leaving the industry in 2013. Both now run their businesses together, fortunately having compatible skillsets!

Accessibility

People who have difficulties with stairs may struggle because some of our bedrooms are up 3 flights of steps. They are not steep but there are at least 30 steps. Similarly, our front entrance to the hall is also up a flight of 6 stone steps that wheelchair-users would find awkward. Regrettably, we are unable to alleviate these obstacles.
