Black Swan Guest House Information


Black Swan Guest House is a tastefully re-furbished 18th Century Grade II listed former coaching inn. We are situated in the centre of the small Lincolnshire village of Marton, 5 miles south of the historic market town of Gainsborough and only a 20-minute drive to the beautiful city of Lincoln. There are 6 rooms in the main building on the first floor, and a further 2 rooms on the ground floor in our converted Stable Block. Whether you are travelling on business or with friends and family. We are also pet-friendly and have two cats and a dog ourselves. We offer a delicious cooked breakfast to start your day, using fresh local produce where possible.

We have two rooms on the ground floor in our converted Stable Block. One of these is a double room with wide doors and support for the toilet. The other is a twin room, with 2 single beds. The main entrance and dining room are all on the ground floor and there are no steps.


A car is recommended when staying at the property
  • Road from Newark-on-Trent (A1) (18.0 miles)

    Exit A1 Signed to Lincoln (A46), then take the 1st exit on the roundabout (A1133).

    Follow the A1133, for 13 miles, to Torksey Lock where you join the A156 to Gainsborough, turning left.

    Follow the A156 for 2.5 miles to the village of Marton.

    In the middle of the village, just after the Ingleby Arms pub, turn right into The Old Courtyard.

    The car park is on the left-hand side.

  • Road from Doncaster (M18) (24.0 miles)

    Exit the M18 J3, and join the Great Yorkshire Way (A6182).

    Follow this road for 3 miles until you join the A638 (Bawtry).

    Follow the A638 to Bawtry for 5 miles.

    In Bawtry, turn left on to the A631 to Gainsborough, follow this road for 11 miles.

    In Gainsborough, turn left on the A631 roundabout to join Ashcroft Road.

    At the end of the road, turn left on the roundabout to join the A156.

    Follow this road for 5 miles.

    In the village of Marton, turn left into The Old Courtyard, just after the junction with the A1500 (Lincoln).

    The car park is on the left-hand side.
