The Boathouse Information

Description

Accommodation Choose from luxury bed & breakfast in the main Boathouse building or stay in one of the woodland lodges. The Boathouse offers five bedrooms on the first floor and an attic room on second floor which are all individually decorated and styled as boutique hideaways. One room even stretches over two floors and has fabulous views of the Broads. All have contemporary bathrooms, king-sized beds (apart from room two which has a double bed) and those extra special touches to make your stay perfect. Within the well-kept grounds are three Woodland Lodges that are available to hire for short breaks and longer holidays. All three lodges are beautifully finished, making the most of their natural setting. Their warming cedar interiors offer a cosy stay whilst the contemporary soft furnishings offer a light and airy feel. The two bigger lodges have fully equipped full-size kitchens, luxury bathrooms and private terraces. PLEASE NOTE - THERE MAY BE A WEDDING ON AT THE TIME OF YOUR STAY, SO THERE MAY BE SOME NOISE DISTURBANCE. PLEASE NOTE WE DO NOT SERVE FOOD ON MONDAY'S (APART FROM BREAKFASTS FOR GUESTS). Pub and Restaurant The onsite pub and restaurant specialises in traditional British cuisine and offers intimate dining areas as well as facilities for larger groups. The interior is finished to the highest standard using natural furnishings and lighting for a warm ambience. Inside is a long bar with several large bay windows offering lovely views of the Broads. Exposed brickwork, two open fireplaces and oak beams make for a welcoming spot. The light and airy main restaurant has a wonderful vaulted ceiling and offers a contemporary dining space with classic touches. Waterfront Venue The stunning waterfront venue has two rooms; one with expansive sliding glass doors which open onto a spacious decking area offering un-spoilt views of the Broad with a private bar area in between. The venue can cater for conferences, meetings, exhibitions and weddings.

Nearby Relaxing and peaceful, The Boathouse is ideally located for exploring the spectacular Norfolk Broads, Norfolk coastline and within easy access of the great city of Norwich and the seaside resort of Great Yarmouth. History The Eels Foot pub dates back to at least 1854 when it was listed as a ‘beer house and pleasure garden’. The name may come from Eel's Boot, a type of woven read basket used in eel fishing. However, Scandinavian Names In Norfolk (Rye 1920) say ‘there is an Eels Foot in the South side of Nordfjord in Norway’’ suggesting the origin of the name may date back to pre-Roman Scandinavian settlement in Norfolk.More recently, The Eel's Foot closed its doors in 2012 having become run down, a sign of a difficult economic trading environment. The pub, associated buildings and land were purchased by Norfolk couple Michael and Belinda Minors and just two years later the renamed Boathouse was re-launched. The restoration is truly magnificent - sleek and modern with a traditional outlook and wonderful views. Within the pub/restaurant there is a large mural of images, paying homage to the pub's former existence as the Eel's Foot which acts as a backdrop for diners.
