Martineau Guest House Information

Martineau House is a deluxe, family-run guest house located in the heart of the picturesque coastal village of Tynemouth, Tyne & Wear. Whether you're planning on visiting for business or pleasure, we very much look forward to welcoming you to Martineau. With magnificent views of the historic Priory and dramatic coastline, Martineau is the perfect location for a relaxing break, while also being the ideal base for exploring the many attractions of the North-East. Less than 5 minutes to the beach. Martineau Guest House has won the North East Bed and Breakfast/Guest Accommodation award 2014. It takes its name from Harriet Martineau, one of the great social reformers of the 19th century and an important local figure. Harriet lived in the house for five years during the 1840s and wrote many of her most important works here. All our rooms are en-suite and well equipped. Start the day with choices from our award winning breakfast menus, served in our open plan kitchen and featuring the best of traditional local produce lovingly prepared. Enjoy our organic homemade bread and conserves. Vegetarian and vegan menu also available. As an alternative why not take breakfast in bed with our comprehensive continental choices served to you in a whicker hamper left outside your room. Free wifi and on street parking (50p for a permit) available. Conveniently located for local transport, Martineau Guesthouse is an ideal base for exploring the coastline and countryside of Northumbria, or the shopping opportunities of Newcastle's Eldon Square and Gateshead's famous Metro Centre. Tynemouth itself has a range of local craft and coffee shops. A five-minute walk will take you to the antiques curios at Tynemouth Metro Station or the Land of the Green Ginger. Martineau House has achieved a silver award and 4 star rating plus a breakfast award by Vist England, was awarded the North East bed and breakfast/guest accommodation of the year 2014 and is recommeded in the Michelin guide.
