Description

The Crown is a popular local pub that has a fabulous selection of draught ciders and real ales, home-cooked food using locally sourced ingredients as well as letting rooms. The pub is at the heart of the local community with a thriving regular quiz night, and open mic night as well a crib team - everything you would expect and more from a village pub. Aldbourne is a picturesque village close to Marlborough, Hungerford and Swindon with easy access to the M4. Marlborough is situated in the picturesque rural north-east of Wiltshire. Originating from a Saxon settlement, the town nestles on the edge of Savernake Forest, the only privately owned forest in Britain. Marlborough has one of the widest high streets in England and is renown for its high quality shops. The prehistoric landscape of Avebury lies just six miles away and the surrounding landscape is excellent for both cycling and Walking. During WW2 Aldbourne was home for Easy Company know as "The Band of Brothers" part of 101 Frying Eagles Div. of US 506 Airborne and the Crown was their Head Quarters and commination centre priory to the D-day landing Within easy reach of the historic Wiltshire including Avebury, Silbury Hill and Stonehenge yet just an hour from London by train, the Crown is an ideal base for a visit or a stop along the way.

Unfortunatly this is a 500 year old listed building and we have no power to arrange for disabled facilities to the upper floors.
