Sarumdipity Information

A luxuriously appointed self-catering apartment appealing to any one that would like to sample the shopping and Olde Worlde charm of Salisbury or to sight see world heritage sites such as Stonehenge, Old Sarum or Salisbury Cathedral. The apartment has its own entrance and is comprised of a kitchen/diner downstairs with narrow oak stairs leading to a cosy lounge, shower wetroom and the double bedroom. There is a TV and free broadband wi-fi. Parking is shared on the driveway or on the street in front of the house. Sraumdipity is in Stratford-sub-Castle with views over the water meadows at the back which the River Avon flows through, and views up to Old Sarum at the front – just a sort walk to across the fields. Old Sarum is where the first City and Cathedral of Salisbury were established before they re-located to the modern City of Salisbury, (New Sarum), about 800 years ago. It has been a Saxon Hill Fort, a Roman Fort, and a medieval castle – the seat of William the Conquror and King John. It is now an English Heritage site, still an imposing and substantial hill fort and where the ruins of the old cathedral and castle can be explored. The modern medieval city of Salisbury is a 15 minute walk from Sarumdipity, via a dedicated paved footpath and cycle path leading through parkland and along the banks of the river to the heart of the city and the Cathedral. Visitors can explore the city, enjoy its shopping and many restaurants, cafés, pubs, Inns and bars. Stonehenge and Woodhenge are 8 miles North, with Avebury Stone Circle and Silbury Hill 24 miles away. For anglers, Sarumdipity overlooks the Parsonage Farm stretch of the river and is half a mile from the Cartshed, home of Salisbury and District Angling. You know if there is a hatch on because the May Flies dance in the garden, and during a spinner fall they will be landing on the car!

There are no facilities for people with impaired mobility. The property is accessed through a high step, via a level but narrow path with no room for an access ramp. The property has a ground floor kitchen/diner. The snug lounge and bedroom are accessed via a narrow and steep oak staircase with a ballustrade. Unfortunately we do not think this property is suitable for people with impaired movement, due to age, weight, health or disability.

  • Road from City Centre (1.5 miles)

From the City Centre take Castle Street towards the ring road and head straight across Castle Roundabout on to the A345 sign posted Amesbury. Within 200 yards turn left at the 1st set of traffic lights onto Stratford Road. Proceed along Stratford Road for approximately half a mile and into Stratford-sub-Castle. Look For Torrisholme, a Victorian semi-detached house with a sage green garage door approximately 5 houses after you pass Castle Keep on the left hand side.

If approaching from the Woodford Valley or Durnford, drive into Stratford-sub-Castle past the church on your left, keep going past the school on the right, past Mill Lane and St Lawrence Close until you see a pair of semi-detached houses on your right. Find the one called Torrisholme and the Sarumdipity apartment is down the path along the side of the house.
