Old Rose and Crown Hotel Information

Description

The hotel boasts 11 en-suite guest rooms with facilities including colour TV and tea & coffee making facilities. The rooms are individually decorated - and many enjoy spectacular views over the Lickey Hills. With adjoining 18 hole golf course. The hotel is perfectly situated on the outskirts of Birmingham yet only 15 minutes drive from the centre. Excellent event facilities for weddings, conferences and celebrations.

The Old Rose & Crown hotel is unusual in that it is truly independent. It is run by husband and wife team Andrew and Joanna, and they and their team, are passionate about delivering excellent customer service. It also means they are able to offer complete flexibility – so if there is anything you would like, please ask! As local residents ourselves, we can provide details of much that goes on around the hotel and in neighbouring market town of Bromsgrove. The hotel enjoys a special place in the hearts of many Birmingham residents, as for much of the 20th century, the Lickey Hill and Country park was the place where Birmingham families would visit to escape the city. Trams would bring visitors out of the city, dropping them at the end of the tracks at the bottom of Rose Hill, where the hotel sits. Visitors would walk up to the park, stopping at the various tearooms, or simply enjoying a picnic. For the energetic, a walk to the top of Beacon would afford them great views back over Birmingham in one direction, and out over the Malvern Hills to the south.

Accessibility

We offer 11 ensuite bedrooms with level entry showers, all of which are on the first floor. There is no lift to the first floor, but the staircase is wide and substantial with a solid hand rail on both sides. To the front of the hotel the surface is level, and there is a small (102mm/4 inch) step up to the front door. There grab rails on either side, though it would only be possible to use one of these as they are too far apart to use simultaneously. Alternatively, we have a portable ramp or a level access at the side of the hotel. The front door is permanently open, and an internal door will be closed. The front door is well lit at night by a motion sensor light.
