Worthenbury Manor Information

Description

Take a break from the ordinary. A special place to stay and one of 'Britain's Finest', providing a country house experience & luxury 5* B&B accommodation. It's surrounded by trees in its own grounds making it ideal for that quiet 'get away from it all' or a cosy romantic break. Our two luxury period bedrooms each have an antique 4 poster bed, armchairs, table, writing bureau and discrete modern touches; a BOSE music system/radio, Freeview TV with DVD player, hair dryer, ironing facilities and a generous hospitality tray. Both bathrooms have a large bath tub & shower over it, Molton Brown toiletries for pampering, fluffy bath towels and bathrobes. Guests have their own entrance and sitting room with, comfy sofas, local magazines and books to read by the log fire in winter. There's also a wild life friendly garden to relax in and enjoy a glass of wine in summer. A hearty breakfast is free when booking on this site. Supper is also available if requested when booking. Our meals feature local and home grown award winning produce. Worthenbury Manor, is situated in the Welsh Marches, an ideal spot to explore North Wales, Cheshire & Shropshire. Visit numerous National Trust Properties, gardens and steam railways. Alternatively visit the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct World Heritage Site or go horse racing at Bangor on Dee and Chester. Oulton Park motor racing is only 25 miles away. Locally there are also good opportunities for fishing, walking, cycling. & golf. Close by are Bangor on Dee, Carden, Farndon, Iscoyd Park, Malpas, Overton and Wrexham Industrial Estate. Chester and Llangollen are 17 miles away and Shrewsbury 28 miles. Worthenbury Manor is a grade 2 listed building with many original features which has made it difficult to adapt for guests with special needs. Regretfully The Manor is not accessible for wheelchair users. All guests are offered help with luggage on arrival and departure. Please see our access statement.

Directions

  • Road from Wrexham & Whitchurch (9.0 miles)
    Take the A525. Leave the A525 signposted Bangor on Dee & take the B5069 towards Malpas. After about 1.5 miles you will see the Worthenbury village sign, shortly after this the road bears to the left.You will see Worthenbury Manor on the right across the field. Continue forward pass a white house on the right, when you see the road sign for a hump back bridge indicate right after a few yards opposite a road lamp and just before the bridge, you will see the drive on the right. There's no B&B sign.
  • Road from Chester (18.0 miles)
    Take the A41 towards Whitchurch, Leave the A41 where signposted Malpas. Drive into Malpas and at the T junction turn left and then 1st right onto the B5069 signposted Bangor on Dee also known as Bangor isy Coed. Keep on the B5069, passing through Threapwood and on to Wprthenbury. Go through the village and as you cross the hump back bridge indicate left. The Manor driveway is on the left as you come off the bridge. If you pass a white house on the left you have gone past us. There's no B&B sign.
  • Train from Wrexham General (9.0 miles)
    The nearest railway station is Wrexham General, there is no bus service to Worthenbury so take a taxi from the station taxi rank. The fare is about £15. A taxi bus is available during the day, but it requires an hour's notice. Their telephone number is 01978 357777.
  • Air from Manchester Airport (50.0 miles)
    Take the M56 to Chester and then pick up the A41 to Whitchurch. Leave the A41 where signposted Malpas. In Malpas take the B5069 to Bangor on Dee. You will pass through Threapwood and the next village is Worthenbury. The Manor is on the left just as you come off the hump backed bridge in the village. There is no B&B sign.
  • Air from Birmingham Airport (60.0 miles)
    Join the M6 and head North. Leave the M6 and join the M54 travelling toward Telford. Leave the M54 where signposted A41 and head towards Whitchurch. At Whitchurch take the A525 towards Wrexham, leaving the A525 where signposted Bangor on Dee. Take the B5069 to Malpas. Worthenbury is 2 miles from Bango on Dee and Worthenbury Manor is on the right just before the hump back bridge as you come into the village. There's no B&B sign.
