York Hotels, B&Bs And Guest Houses

If you’re thinking about a trip to North Yorkshire why not take a look at these great destinations:
Filey     Harrogate     Leeds     Middlesbrough     Pickering     Redcar     Richmond     Ripon     Scarborough     Settle     Skipton     Whitby

York has one of the finest preserved medieval city centres in England and its olde-worlde streets and alleys are a delight to explore. York Minster, one of the largest Gothic cathedrals in Europe, is a must-see, with masses of beautiful stained glass, including the ‘Heart of Yorkshire’ window. Also inside its remarkably intact city walls is Clifford’s Tower, part of York Castle, and a wealth of ancient churches.

More modern attractions include the National Railway Museum where and the world-record holding Mallard locomotive is preserved and the Jorvick Viking Centre, uncovering the history beneath York’s streets.

You can find plenty of hotels and B&Bs in York from which to head out to explore the city. And if you get lost, look out for some of the most unusual street names you are ever likely to come across, such as the Shambles and Whip-Ma-Whop-Ma-Gate, the shortest street in York.
